Drags  2y ago

Why is the 11.5 1/4 mile still here? I thought that drag strip times weren’t uploaded to this site?!

User avatar

Dafish  3y ago

Short of punching the brakes it’s physically not possible for the 1/2 mile eta estimate to be correct. At the 1/4. I’ll it’s already doing going over 120mph, or 1/4 mile in just under 7.5 seconds.

Since the first 1/4 is shown as 11.5 a C7 could not gain another mph and still be in the 18’s at the 1/2 mile.

hostboy  2y ago

The f*ck are you even talking about

User avatar

Nelno  2y ago @hostboy

It's simple math. If the car is already going 120 mph at the end of the first 1/4 mile, there is only 1/4 mile left to reach1/2 mile. The car would only take 7.5 seconds to cover the remaining 1/4. Since it took 11.5 seconds to go the first 1/4 mile, if it just stayed at 120 mph for the remaining distance (1/4 mile), the total time would be 11.5 + 7.5 seconds, or 18.0 seconds, not 20.2 like the stats show. The car would have to be slowing down after the first 1/4 to take more than 18 seconds to do the 1/2 mile.
So what Dafish is talking about is that the 20.2 second 1/2 mile time cannot be correct for a car that did the 1/4 in 11.5 @ 120 mph without the driver applying the brakes after the first 1/4 mile.

User avatar

Nelno  2y ago @Nelno

Edit: meant to type 11.5 + 7.5 = 19.0 seconds, but the rest is still valid.. The car couldn't take 20. 2 seconds unless it slowed down after the first 1/4.

User avatar

Nelno  2y ago @hostboy

Even if we use the 12 second 1/4 mile time, if the trap speed is 120, the total 1/2 mile time should be no more than 19.5 seconds. Even if the 20.2 is from a different test, it still greatly disagrees with all of the other data, making it highly suspect. The car would have had to be trapping well under 120 or have taken 12.7 seconds to do the 1/4 mile.

User avatar

Aaron  1y ago @Nelno

The Stingray wouldn't be at 120mph at the end of a 12 second quarter-mile unless it has around 500hp. The trap speed would be more like 116mph.

😂

User avatar

TStat  9m ago @Aaron

Avg is closer to 118 but that is in the 11s. A few @ 120 and 121

User avatar

wallenieswiftie  4d ago @TStat

I agree, 116 is way too pessimistic. A 470hp XJL Supercharged Edition does that, and that is 1000 lbs heavier. A 470hp 300 SRT8 is only 3 mph slower.

User avatar

David Olson  3y ago

196ss...someone also needs to fix the HP and lb-ft, which are 460HP and 465 lb-ft

User avatar

196ss  4y ago

Since most of the testing were done for Z51 package with performance exhaust option, engine output should be changed to this:
Peak power - 343 kw / 6000 RPM
Peak torque - 630 Nm / 4600 RPM

User avatar

Hoppelmoppel123  4y ago

There is a 343 kW and 630 Nm version, should i add the data to this one?

User avatar

lego  4y ago

Slower than specified by the manufacturer Is it a Did you measure without the Z51 package?

On any particular lap time, is there a way to know whether the Stingray was equipped with the Z51 package?

Hamzeh Abufaris  9y ago

wrong information. how come the 1/4 mile in 11.5 sec at speed of 193km. and to 200km in 14.5sec!! that means this car needs 3 sec to go from 193km to 200km which is not real.

Omg! I just found out what half 96 and half 144 is, and it does appear to be the quartermile trap speed! This page is right!

User avatar

BR2+  10y ago

IMO not many cars look as good in there drop top from as they due in there hardtop version, But this one looks amazing, It really does.

User avatar

BR2+  10y ago

Definetly, With so many laptimes im surprised we missed it.

Will get to adding know.

User avatar

FastestLaps  10y ago

Wow, that's a super find! I have added the track - Toronto Motorsports Park.

I will do a little article about it tomorrow.

User avatar

BR2+  10y ago

FastestLaps, Can you add the AutoGuide Test Track? There are over 40 laptimes available that can be added.

User avatar

Wilsdorf  10y ago

Tell me which one is then?

User avatar

BR2+  10y ago

Its not.

User avatar

Wilsdorf  10y ago

It is the most capability that any manufacturer has ever delivered for this money.

User avatar

Chaz89  11y ago

If this data is accurate, that means that the 7th gear allows 55mph cruising at less than 1000rpm!

http://www.automobile-catalog.com/auta_details1.php

Even more crazy, the link to car and driver review they managed 30-50mph in 13 seconds in this gear, supposedly doing

User avatar

monkeypop  11y ago

@br2
I got the V used with low miles for a little under 50k. Dealer said he could have sold it numerous times if it was an auto but you'd be amazed how many people in the u.s can't drive a manual.

When I first got it I was dead set on not doing any engines mods but you know how that goes. Once I joined the forums and saw how much more power I could have with a pulley swap and remap I couldn't help myself.

With a family I figured the caddy was my best bet at performance and room for the kid/dog. Previously I had a evo but the luster of the evo faded pretty quickly. Numerous problems with it... no issues with the caddy yet!

User avatar

Hollywood  11y ago

My C7 just ran 11.8 117MPH

User avatar

Flabernat  11y ago

@ 196ss Yeah, I also like the idea of a less expensive V-8 power sports-coupe as well. Maybe something like the 130R or Tru140S concepts they had a little while back...
http://www.caranddriver.com/news/chevrolet-code-130r-and-tru-140s-concepts-news
Heck, if they're small/light enough you could just put Chevy's 323hp 3.6LV6 in them, price them near the BRZ/FRS, they'd sell like hotcakes! :)

User avatar

196ss  11y ago

May be it's sounds strange, but I'd like to see a cheaper version of this car: 5-5,5 l V8, about 400 hp. With manual and all Z51 goodies it would be very fun car.

User avatar

saxy  11y ago

To be honest, I would like to see one of these for once as opposed to the many 458s, GTRs, mclarens, lambos. They are too cliche.
