2 Alfa Romeo "blindfold" their own driver to prevent him from setting lap record at Silverstone

If it wasn't for black paint on windows preventing driver Ed Morris from seeing outside the car, Alfa Romeo Giulia QV might have had Silversotne National 4-door lap record.

Current record was set by the old V10 BMW M5 when "Car Magazine" tested for "Performance Car of the Year 2005" 11 years ago. It very likely has been improved since then, but this is what we got in the official Fastestlaps.com list of Silverstone National lap times.

Instead of picking up the low hanging fruit and beating 10 year old lap record, Alfa Romeo decided to f**k things up and go for what they call "Giulia Sixth Sense" - a farcical marketing trick geared towards social media, rather than rewriting any record books. Maybe having one real record at Nürburgring is already enough...

If you do wonder how it is possible to complete a laptime without being able to see, watch the video below - they did have another Giulia driver following and instructing Ed Morris on when to turn, brake or accelerate.

maybe they were trying to break the bmw 'not looking where you are going' record, something bmw have actually lost to audi since about 2014
