On March 31st Kunos Simulazioni released the next incremental update for the much loved Assetto Corsa racing simulator.

Version 1.5 adds two new road cars - Chevrolet Corvette C7 and Ford Mustang, and a fictional open road race track "Black Cat County".

More importantly, it also introduces enhancements to all aspects of simulation - physics model, sound and graphics.

Along with the release, Kunos revealed some details on development roadmap for the near future, mentioning such goodies as highly requested and badly missed Japanese cars (Nissan 370Z, Mazda RX-7, Toyota Supra, Nissan GT-R R34) for upcoming "Japanese Pack" DLC, improved all wheel drive model for vehicles with torque vectoring (R35 will finally feel right), Ferrari 488 GTB, Mazda 787B, Audi A1 and other new cars both free and as part of paid DLCs.

FastestLaps.com is also, once again, hosting Assetto Corsa server. You can find it by typing "fastestlaps" in the server browser search box. As usual, server will be hosting road car track day and all laptimes will be recorded, averages calculated, and resulting times will be featured as "estimates" in fastestlaps.com database.

There are a number of such estimates already in Nurburgring Nordschleife BTG laptime list. Assetto Corsa user names of top fastest laptime holders are attributed in laptime notes section.

List of live updating lap records on per-car basis is available at https://fastestlaps.com/assetto-corsa.

Btw, the updated tyre model (version 7) is noticable. Especially for the hypercars. In a Huayra, for example, the traction control is kicking in even in 4th gear!

Judging from the development diary articles, most changes are to the heating and wear simulation. AC has really turned into something special.

Level of realism is literally UNREAL (I know that's a seriously dumb statement). But, really, I would consider AC to be almost scientific software, more than a game.
