And still 30 years old XJ220 is the fastest Jaguar on the Nordschleife.

Project 8 XE did a 7:21?

User avatar

Jeremy11  3w ago @saxy

I think the SVR could run a 7:15

User avatar

BR2+  3w ago @Jeremy11

You sir, Are crazy, An SVR loses to a 'Base' Stingray round every track, n u think it'll do a 7:15 round the ring?.....

This car is faster than old R8 V10 and Cayman GTS in Top gear UK track, 7:55 gotta be a mistake, 7:40 is the max I can imagine

User avatar

hostboy  2m ago

F-Type R?? 7:55 is very unimpressive. It should do 7:45 or less.

User avatar

Fastedee  2m ago

Makes sense as Vantage V12s did 7:52 and the Evora 400 7:59 in similar magazine laps. They're all around 1 g even on the skid pad. The Vantage has similar acceleration but 1.02 g at the skidpad. It's hampered by its terrible 7 speed sequential. The GT8 is quicker from a standing start than an FK8 but is no quicker at Dottinger due to a terrible autobox according to Sport Auto.Could have done 7:45 easy with a manual. A manual GT12 could do 7:30 but probably 7:35 with outdated Graziano tranny.

User avatar

Fastedee  2m ago

SVR should do 7:40-7:42. This is heavier with less grip. Jaguar did a dubious factory lap of 7:51 in XKRS. The R would do an easy 7:45 in the same circumstances.

So it’s 1 second faster than a 20 year old 911 turbo with 420hp. That’s including improvement of the track.

User avatar

Fastedee  2m ago

That was a go for broke lap vs a leisurely lap in a completely stock Jag.

PLease added this lap time.

So a little quicker than DBS M2 and Evora 400. A little slower than V12 Vantage, Exige 380 and GT8. British cars seem to lack grip and downforce compared to other models. Even the 720s is a little down on grip compared to its rivals.

User avatar

sroser  2m ago

Probably because many of them use normal street tyres.

720S down on grip? Err... no. A 1:21 on Big Willow doesn't sound down on grip to me, nor does a 1:11 at Anglesey.

User avatar

Fastedee  2m ago @sroser

Relatively compared to a ZO6 or Performante but at power tracks the 720s wins the day. McLaren aside, the quickest British car on the Nordschliefe is the XJ220 ...an old hypercar. After that the Exige 380 is the quickest British Sports car at 7:48(until they test the 430) and the GT8 quickest front engined. The Vantage V12s is the quickest front engined regular production car. I imagine the new Vantage will do 7:40-7:45 in magazine tests. The F Type R has lower skidpad numbers than its rivals unless you count the LC500 as a rival. It has no practical need for more grip and track speed except for bragging rights against the AMG GT and other rivals. At Willow it is virtually tied with the DB11...a car with very similar acceleration and skidpad numbers. The Aston does it with rwd.

User avatar

Tyrone1  2m ago @Fastedee

Sorry but i gotta go with sroser on this one. 22.3 for the figure 8 for a RWD production car with a non-r compound tyre is ludicrous. Aside from straightline speed, the 720s' grip is astounding.

User avatar

saxy  2m ago @Tyrone1

Pretty sure the car was on trofeo tires. No way in hell is it going 1:21 on normal corsas

User avatar

sroser  2m ago @saxy

No, it was on Corsas, the story is on Motor Trend. The 720S has never ran a magazine lap on Trofeos.

User avatar

saxy  2m ago @sroser

That’s impressive!

"Pretty sure the car was on trofeo tires. No way in hell is it going 1:21 on normal corsas"

this also proves that you're not a reliable source when we speak of high performance cars, not that it's nothing new with all types of shady members that come from xbox/ps4 world, but to put things into perspective with solid confirmation, you're a con artist at best.

now how about taking that rabbit job getting pulled out of a mules rump ?

you'll end up looking like this, if his omg! decision of keeping aliens out of the country doesn't bother you :)

http://www.motortrend.ca/en/news/2018-mclaren-720s-first-test-review/ so true, read that and you'll see mclaren didnt send them the trofeo r's....this car is much better than id thought in terms of grip

User avatar

saxy  2m ago @Monolith29

Yes indeed. But I do think the big willow has gotten faster. Doesn’t make sense the 720s on corsas to be that much faster than a 675lt on trofeo Rs. Coincidently the 500hp GT3 nearly as fast as the 675lt, and even beating the Z06? The track is definitely faster than before.

User avatar

Tyrone1  2m ago @saxy

Could be the time of the year they do the test in. Track temperatures matter a lot. Also ive been lead to believe the new corsa is far superior to the old one. But you are right the times do seem very fast. Even a 911 turbo got in faster than the 675LT.

User avatar

sroser  2m ago @saxy

The cars are faster than before but they never really got the best lap out of a 675LT either. Equally the 720S on Corsas was 1.3s faster than an LT on Trofeo Rs on Anglesey Coastal too and that is a pure grip and traction circuit.
