Dodge Challenger Hellcat already has over 700 horsepower and can hardly be deemed "under-powered" even by most spoiled car buyer.
717 metric horsepower seemed almost absurd in 2014 when Hellcat models where announced, especially for the 4-door Dodge Charger Hellcat. Remember that "non S" Lamborghini Aventador has less power and torque, and it is a V12 supercar.
Now there are rumors that Dodge will soon release even more powerful version of Challenger with 900 horsepower and suitably "hellish" name - the Demon.
That's right - 900 is a whole lot more than what's already a "whole lot" and would place this relatively inexpensive factory pony car in the same power bracket as hybrid hypercars, and almost in the sacred 4 digit Bugatti Veyron territory.
That's if these rumors turn out to be accurate. So far there are only cryptic teasers and "Easter eggs" released by Dodge that suggest both the existence of a new performance Challenger and Dodge engine telemetry screen-grab that indicates 900 horsepower.
