Official: Porsche 918 laps Ring in 7:14
Initially the only source backing these news was a leaked 918 brochure. Recently, however, Porsche have confirmed these news with a press release. So, how good of a time is 7:14? Looking at the Nordschleife page we see that this is the fastest laptime ever recorded for a street legal production Porsche. This is to be expected - I wouldn't imagine Porsche boasting a laptime that was slower of any of it's lesser models (namely 7:18 by GT2 RS). There are, however, few cars that could do even better. The most provocative example is far far cheaper but somewhat crude racecar-like Viper ACR with a time of 7:12.13. Porsches official laptimes and performance data is often conservative, and I expect to see this laptime improved, when someone brave enough outside Porsche gets behind the wheel of the 918. I don't know how many laps Porsche did and and under what circumstances (weather, traffic). No onboard footage is available yet. Eventually we might see Porsche themselves claim a better laptime, especially if competitors like Ferrari or McLaren come up with a better time for their cars. I think most people realise that the reason Porsche are doing this is because it's softening up the change to KERS for the 981 Turbo. If KERS isn't used I'd be surprised.
LOL!
But yeah, if it wasn't a hybrid, 918 V8 could run a better time with the same driver, same conditions.
Yes I have
I have 4 pics of black
1 pic white with red line
and many pics of RSR version
Like red or blue or something?..
your information of cars is good
where are you from?
how old are you?
IM GETTING ONE NEXT YEAR!!!!!
“1.1 Submission of invalid/fake/fabricated laptimes or cars is strictly forbidden and will lead to ban **.
3.2 Tuned/modified cars are not allowed in fastestlaps.com

Now please to comment on topic.
“This site seems to be going downhill.
The elimation of lap times and other figures is just the tip of the iceburg.”
Again, This^^ So much truth in that comment.
Forgone..
I have also been on this site since 2006-2007, about a year after this site launched or so, and i tell you, this site is no where NEAR as fun as it used to be back in the day, not even close, this is a wonderfull site, but like Apathy said, with all the deletion of laptimes, either extremely slow data adding, or none at all, and mods banning people without thinking, and the questionable legitimacy of deleting parts, its really taked a turn for something else.
Ill agree, Eryk03 is/was the fastest person in a long time to add speedy performance data...but thats about it, this site use to have loads of good members that had a hell of alot better natured comments then today, SOME members are still with us, others arent.
And again.
“
my activity has declined more and more with the onslought of some more questionable posters and comments”
This^^ As i think alot of the older members reasoning, that or being banned without explanation.
Point is, the Site needs to be/get better, or better would, Needs to be like the old days:(
BTW. I do not deny that in the first year of your activities you have added a lot of data.
I've been a member since 2009, added 25 cars, posted 1300 posts, submitted 4 articles, like the one you see here, and added performance data to hundreds of cars.
That is my "activity."
So I think I'm at least a little entitled to give my opinion on the matter.
Any questions?
The elimation of lap times and other figures is just the tip of the iceburg.
Limited to no comment moderation, late figure posting, very late statistical updates, lack of sources in recent postings, and so on.
Just my observation. No offense to anyone intended.
bijan
It is a standard production car. Just because it was considered a "preproduction version", doesn't necessarily make it any different from a production version.
It's a pre-production version simply because production hasn't started yet.
These days there are cars that are far from being lightweight, but still manage excellent laptimes (Nissan GT-R, Bugatti Veyron)
“ If I want a Viper, can I order the German race team option??”
Don't need to, the car has adjustable suspension. Set it up yourself.
This is a nice Porsche, though I can't say I care to much about the battery pack. Make fast cars fast and make road cars economical.
