This has to be the least publicised track record in Porsche's history. Quick Google search for "Porsche GT3 RS Tsukuba record" revealed no relevant results. Nor do I recall any press from Porsche or reporting from automotive news channels.
But the story starts some 4 months ago, when a mysterious onboard video surfaced on YouTube, showing a Porsche 991 GT3 RS driven quickly around the Tsukuba circuit, allegedly, with Akihiko Nakaya doing the driving. Video claims a 60 second laptime.
Fast forward 4 months, and there is confirmation that laptime is indeed valid and part of upcoming Web Cartop production.
1:00.7 elevates the GT3 RS above all road cars that have ever lapped Tsukuba, except for one - the Radical SR4.
Radical cars are hardly the definition of "road car" or "production car", so it is not entirely inappropriate to regard this as a new track record.
