Ferrari F12 was always fast and exceptionally powerful. Some journalists, including, Jeremy Clarkson himself, actually deemed it "too powerful".
The new F12 TDF, despite considerable weight reduction and power increase (from 740 to 780 metric horsepower), may actually feel less "over-powered" due to claimed 87% downforce increase.
Added downforce will inspire more confidence for drivers, and allow for much better laptimes.
With the exception of track specials like 599XX, front engine Ferraris were never meant to be the ultimate track machines.
F12 TDF aims to do both - break records and retain apparent "grand tourer" capability.
Manufacturers claimed Fiorano time is impressive (beats 488 GTB by 2 seconds), but can not fully represent TDF track potential.
For a true "litmus test" we have to wait for "usual suspects" - Sport Auto, Autozeitung etc, to get their hands on one, and do a proper instrumented test.
But don't expect the Lamborghini Aventador SV Nurburgring record to fall any time soon!
