52 The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Cover for The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Can you imagine how fast a GT3 RS would be if it had two turbochargers and 700 horsepower?

The good news is that you no longer have to imagine - it's already here - the long anticipated 991 platform rear wheel drive "uber-911".

With 700 metric horsepower this is the most powerful factory Porsche 911 ever made and, unlike the manual 997 GT2 and GT2 RS, with PDK this car will not lose out in dragraces against lesser 911 Turbo's and Nissan GT-R's.

Only slight disappointment is that Porsche call this car "GT2 RS" instead of just "GT2", which means there won't be a more powerful "RS" version coming in future, unless they come up with a new nomenclature.

Mark Webber says he has done 336 km/h in the main straight at the ring...thats crazy. By comparison, the Performante did 304 and the Aventador SV (750ps) 325.

a mitsu titsu that's barely worth $10k in this day and age if it's in a mint condition, porsche wants to do the same with their latest fake gt2 rs and charge 500% through some dealers which are known for embezzling from under the table with exclusive loyal idiotic customers

germans set p-cars on fire, are they already tired of poor-shush and their fastest 911s at the ring ? maybe it's time they killed the 911 for good and concentrated on vw beetle with cuter spoilers instead of riced up 2.5m tower sized spoilers

350k $ by any standards its a huge amount of money ofcourse but for that kind of supercar ? Its worth it in my book. This car will have exceptionally good performance level and propably the best handling on the market. 488 GTB, Huracan LP-610 and 650S wont be even close to this level. Not saying about TDF coze we dont know ANYf*ckinTHING about its capabilities. 812 = different type of supercar. Huracan Performance and 720S are interesting competitors to 991 GT2RS. While the first one may be close on tracks the Mclaren could be faster in straight line. But nothing is certain coze this 700 HP may be ~800 hp for real.

Anyways very interesting times. Good thing is that Porsche, Lamborghini and Mclaren allow to test their cars.

I was trying to go in the UK website configurator, But said it was offline for some reason and wouldnt let me in, They already have on up featuring the GT2 and you can build n price it, But i had to use the Usa one, It starts at $293,200, Which is already pretty crazy for a 911, And fully loaded with every option ends at $349,500, Which is crazy, But it seems the only way to get rid of that stupid stripe in the middle is to not choose the weiissahhsscccsh pack, Which is retarded. Either way, Ive been a huge fan of GT2s, And every generation is in my fav cars category, And this one just keeps getting better....With exception to the price.

gotta love german tech when vw is involved

VW Expands Porsche And Audi SUV Recall For Fire Risk

i thought tucking in a fire extinguisher under the passenger seat got the job done ? lol

i bet the gt2 rs also has tons of issues, but they will announce the recalls when production line comes to an end, typical (vw) german scheme

the engine is based on 911 turbo s engine with bigger vtg turbos, which means it's an integrated dry sump and not a true dry sump. this means most cost cutting is involved in this hacked job 911

so basically, it's a gt3 rs with a 911 turbo engine and a gemballa body kit lol

they must be running out of ideas, soon they will drop the rear engine concept and switch to mid engine, soccer moms will be behind one soon

That will be clash of titans : 991 GT2 RS vs 720S...Im with Porsche in that case.

wrong comparo!

the 488 Speciale or whatever it will be called is the real competitor not the 812

this proves that you know nothing about cars that are meant to deliver on the track

what happened to the huracan performante ? or is the gt2 rs now vw's sweet child that will deliver every time it gets refreshened up on every lap it completes lol i'd be glad to donate a perrier water bottle for anyone planning to get one without talking about fake times at the ring with your get to go standard runners that can be purchased at your nearest gas station

720s is not a hardcore version and if mclaren has plans to release a hardcore version, it will be a nightmare for porsche and the 991 lineup which will force them to add bigger turbochargers and a larger capacity for the fish tank perrier only water from 5l to 15l to keep those ponies up high instead of sudden drop every 1 lap lol

fanboys still do not get it, that 700 hp is fake and temporary just like the tires they will slap on the car to claim the fastest time with a 911, yet the production car will suck merkel balls

Incredible times. There are three stupendous and new supercars at the moment : 720S, 991 GT2 RS and 812 Superfast. While two first will be real monsters on tracks and in straight line the Ferrari will be the most amazing GT car ever made. It will be realy interesting to see how 720S and GT2 RS compete in terms of performance. These are propably two the quickest and the most technologically advanced supercars in production.

Nice to know the 1470kg claimed curb weight is based on a car with all fluids and a full tank of gas, unlike the manufacturers from Italy.
Theoretically, with WP, and low fuel, the car can be brrought down to under 1400kg then

They could go the Jag route and call its successor the GT2 RRS lol.

Do you need a more powerful car? The Turbo S already punches a hole in time with 556 bhp.

another 911 with a larger wing to give needle dicks even more ego, how pathetic of vw

700hp that will need a perrier refill every 10-mins to stay at that power level lolololololol

i expect to see many of them getting wrecked, because race car for the streets lol

another poo stuff product from vw

Why not an RSR for the road?

User avatar

My question is, Why is there even an RS right now? Why is there no non RS model GT2 first? Doesnt make much sense to me as to why they would do this, Kinda weird they would skip over tradition since 93 and just bring out the most hardcore version, Thas like Aston going from 7 to 9.

I personally think its stupid not to have a "Normal" GT2, Whats next just a GT3RS for there future? I dont care for that bad color scheme either, Either way, This will monster every damn car out there.
