49 The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Cover for The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS

Can you imagine how fast a GT3 RS would be if it had two turbochargers and 700 horsepower?

The good news is that you no longer have to imagine - it's already here - the long anticipated 991 platform rear wheel drive "uber-911".

With 700 metric horsepower this is the most powerful factory Porsche 911 ever made and, unlike the manual 997 GT2 and GT2 RS, with PDK this car will not lose out in dragraces against lesser 911 Turbo's and Nissan GT-R's.

Only slight disappointment is that Porsche call this car "GT2 RS" instead of just "GT2", which means there won't be a more powerful "RS" version coming in future, unless they come up with a new nomenclature.

Mark Webber says he has done 336 km/h in the main straight at the ring...thats crazy. By comparison, the Performante did 304 and the Aventador SV (750ps) 325.

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago

a mitsu titsu that's barely worth $10k in this day and age if it's in a mint condition, porsche wants to do the same with their latest fake gt2 rs and charge 500% through some dealers which are known for embezzling from under the table with exclusive loyal idiotic customers

https://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/ctd/6195892737.html

User avatar

saxy  1m ago

All this crap you talk about yet Porsche is going to sell every GT2 RS is makes. They would be idiots like you to charge anything less.

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago

Call me crazy but I'm kinda gettin this vibe that regardless of what anyone says you're gonna knock Porsche,Audi, Honda,Chevy,Dodge and Ford. Complete with diaper reference and an.. umm unique interpretation of both engineering and marketing. Of course I could be jumping to conclusions.

User avatar

cosmic  1m ago @saxy

so throwing money out of the window makes you a genius? or a loyal ass kisser that will be praised all over the world lol

you're the last ip-kiss to talk about what's worth how much, starting with your cheap plastic chevy that's selling for over 100k and even worse in eu countries almost priced close to super cars with timeless design

but like I said before, because imbeciles like yourself exist on this planet porker will sell every gemballa kit for 350k lol

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago @Fastedee

son, you have no idea what's waiting for you down in the grave, let alone the vibe you've been fed by saxy and br2

there are liars out there and double faced liars in the same spot, but you ain't gonna spot them from the first glance

I only speak the truth and nothing but the painful truth.

Lol the sore loser who can't afford a nice ride has to hate on the others who can. I pity you

The only person crying is you. That's I feel bad for you.

User avatar

I'm sure you have a lot of car knowledge but maybe a trauma or bad experience left you biased against certain cars..just a little bit?...no offence eh? Sorry

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago

germans set p-cars on fire, are they already tired of poor-shush and their fastest 911s at the ring ? maybe it's time they killed the 911 for good and concentrated on vw beetle with cuter spoilers instead of riced up 2.5m tower sized spoilers

User avatar

saxy  1m ago

Sounds like something you would do. Idiots roam the world, nothing new today.

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago @saxy

so you do agree that you're nothing more than an imbecile p-fanboy that would trade his parents to get a ride in a beetle, such a low life loser that you are.

grow up ffs!

User avatar

dddd  1m ago

350k $ by any standards its a huge amount of money ofcourse but for that kind of supercar ? Its worth it in my book. This car will have exceptionally good performance level and propably the best handling on the market. 488 GTB, Huracan LP-610 and 650S wont be even close to this level. Not saying about TDF coze we dont know ANYf*ckinTHING about its capabilities. 812 = different type of supercar. Huracan Performance and 720S are interesting competitors to 991 GT2RS. While the first one may be close on tracks the Mclaren could be faster in straight line. But nothing is certain coze this 700 HP may be ~800 hp for real.

Anyways very interesting times. Good thing is that Porsche, Lamborghini and Mclaren allow to test their cars.

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago

depends on the car they will provide, pre-production car vs low cost boring production car with fake numbers

let me tell you a story about some guys with porkers gathering at munchen autobahn which is held every month by a group of owners that love sausages and beers, one of them said there was a 991 gt3 rs running with them that was capable of walking away from a carrera gt on the highway, but later on said it was a pre-production car and only the test drivers from porker factory were allowed to drive and nobody else.

would you really believe a measely 500 hp that needs to rev up high in the sky could really walk away from a 612 hp v10 engine on the highway ?

pdk may be fast on the track but it can't outrun a more powerful car with a manual in a straight line

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYhrUssmVjQ

it all comes down to how badly porkshuh wants to sell these jumbled up mdoels that they need to get rid of these extra chassis lying around the factory before 2019 and go merkel undie clean with zero emissions

there's a lot more happening at stuttgart, weissach and leipzig, but i can't just splatter it all at once, think of it as another dieselgate scandal

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago @cosimo

Mmm sausage and beer.

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago @cosimo

While I slightly prefer the 488 it would probably be even less laggy with a water intercooler than its current air to air one. A screen and proper location can keep the bugs out but air to air units always carry the risk of debris.

User avatar

Christopher Davis  1m ago @cosimo

Great post I agree. They are hyping their cars.A Carrera GT would win withe hp and torque over gt3 rs in straight line. But it's difficult for traction on track due to clutch on TC.

User avatar

Kain29  1m ago

now we need the 488 gto or its ''speciale'' / ''scudiera'' version to come out, then we'd have a nice lineup.... McLaren 720s, ford gt, 911 gt2 rs, Ferrari gto and or its special edition....ummm lambo performante and I know im missing at least 2 other direct competitors

User avatar

BR2+  1m ago

I was trying to go in the UK website configurator, But said it was offline for some reason and wouldnt let me in, They already have on up featuring the GT2 and you can build n price it, But i had to use the Usa one, It starts at $293,200, Which is already pretty crazy for a 911, And fully loaded with every option ends at $349,500, Which is crazy, But it seems the only way to get rid of that stupid stripe in the middle is to not choose the weiissahhsscccsh pack, Which is retarded. Either way, Ive been a huge fan of GT2s, And every generation is in my fav cars category, And this one just keeps getting better....With exception to the price.

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago

Still a bargain

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago

for starters, you can look for a wrecked gt3 rs and turbo s engine in the junkyard and grab the chassis of #1 and pull out the engine out of #2 and find a decent mechanic to do the swap for under $100k and have garrett, turbonetics or borgwarner to build you a pair of custom turbos and still be faster than what porker is asking for with higher boost and no fish tank to sprinkle water all over your intercoolers to squeeze out those fake 700 hp.

http://www.themotorreport.com.au/content/image/v/o/volkswagen_kombi_t1_racing_taxi_concept_fred_bernhard_01-0515-1490x794.jpg

in the end, the gt2 rs is a rip off for what they're asking for and anyone who's buying one is an exclusive porsche incompetent dickhead that's prepared to slit his mothers tits just to make it on their vip list

User avatar

saxy  1m ago

$350,000 is quite a bargain considering you are saying it's fully loaded with all those carbon and magnesium options, state of the art, hypercar levels of performance. An Aventador would cost similar but be no where even close as quick. A Ferrari 488 with carbon options would be selling 400+K. And it would still have less power and much more weight.

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago @saxy

i believe you still did not understand the point of this car, it's no longer a bespoke like it used to be in the older generations

let's try 1 + 1 = 2.... if that helps your laggy brain with a/r 2.85

991 gt3 rs chassis + 991 turbo s engine = new born 911 called 991 gt2 rs with a crazy markup, because they know imbeciles like yourself for instance really do exist on this planet

i can take a couple of shots of my old dirty underwear with some butt/balls hairs stuck to it and post it on ebay with a $999 asking price and claim it belongs to george micheal which he last wore on the day he died and it will sell at for over $10,000 and will be used for charity

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago @cosimo

What a kidder. Love that bus. Dunno how fast they'd be as they're wrecked.A regular GT3 could handle 560 bhp but this car has 700 bhp. Ferraris,Alfas and McLarens are great but there is a whole world of car makers out there. Cheers.

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago @cosimo

Well the Porsche can really go go when you're drivin solo. You just gotta have faith a faith a faith lol.

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago @Fastedee

don't forget about the nasty 'fake dry sump' engine that will beg for 1.5l ~ 2l of oil every time you go full throttle and some 10 - 20 stops at each gas station to refill that fish tank, you don't want your tuna powers dying on you and drops down below 650 getting owned by a chevy camaro with a bottle of nos and low budget bolt-ons :))

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago @cosimo

I'm sure the aftermarket guys would use air to water intercoolers like the GT2 and DB11. I don't remember Clarkson filling the intercooler tank constantly even at Mugello.

User avatar

cosimo  1m ago

gotta love german tech when vw is involved

VW Expands Porsche And Audi SUV Recall For Fire Risk

i thought tucking in a fire extinguisher under the passenger seat got the job done ? lol

i bet the gt2 rs also has tons of issues, but they will announce the recalls when production line comes to an end, typical (vw) german scheme

User avatar

cosimo  2m ago

the engine is based on 911 turbo s engine with bigger vtg turbos, which means it's an integrated dry sump and not a true dry sump. this means most cost cutting is involved in this hacked job 911

so basically, it's a gt3 rs with a 911 turbo engine and a gemballa body kit lol

they must be running out of ideas, soon they will drop the rear engine concept and switch to mid engine, soccer moms will be behind one soon

User avatar

manone  2m ago

Yup. it has been quite a few years since they have been talking about switching to mid engine configuration for 911-legacy cars. Porsche fanboys, who classically have been bragging about superiority of Porsche's rear engines placing, will then brag about Porsche's mid engine technological supremacy over competitors' mid engines...lol you can't out-german germans

User avatar

dddd  2m ago

That will be clash of titans : 991 GT2 RS vs 720S...Im with Porsche in that case.

User avatar

BR2+  2m ago

I'm sure they will clash, But there classifications are a bit different. You have..

Road Car Audi A4
Performance Car WRX STI
High Performance Car Corvette C7 Z51
Liveable Track Car McLaren 720S
Track Car 911 GT2
Hardcore Track Car 911 GT2 RS
Track Day Special Ariel Atom 3
Track Special Zonda R
Race Car LMP1

With all that active aero, Race tech, Competition tyres, Damn near bare interior, huge power, It's not really a true track car, And unless you have a stripped out interior, Or lightened striped interior, you ain't no track car, either way they will meet

User avatar

cosimo  2m ago

wrong comparo!

the 488 Speciale or whatever it will be called is the real competitor not the 812

this proves that you know nothing about cars that are meant to deliver on the track

what happened to the huracan performante ? or is the gt2 rs now vw's sweet child that will deliver every time it gets refreshened up on every lap it completes lol i'd be glad to donate a perrier water bottle for anyone planning to get one without talking about fake times at the ring with your get to go standard runners that can be purchased at your nearest gas station

720s is not a hardcore version and if mclaren has plans to release a hardcore version, it will be a nightmare for porsche and the 991 lineup which will force them to add bigger turbochargers and a larger capacity for the fish tank perrier only water from 5l to 15l to keep those ponies up high instead of sudden drop every 1 lap lol

fanboys still do not get it, that 700 hp is fake and temporary just like the tires they will slap on the car to claim the fastest time with a 911, yet the production car will suck merkel balls

User avatar

Fastedee  1m ago

It's got a fish tank? Golly Porsche thinks of everything!

User avatar

dddd  2m ago

Incredible times. There are three stupendous and new supercars at the moment : 720S, 991 GT2 RS and 812 Superfast. While two first will be real monsters on tracks and in straight line the Ferrari will be the most amazing GT car ever made. It will be realy interesting to see how 720S and GT2 RS compete in terms of performance. These are propably two the quickest and the most technologically advanced supercars in production.

User avatar

saxy  2m ago

Nice to know the 1470kg claimed curb weight is based on a car with all fluids and a full tank of gas, unlike the manufacturers from Italy.
Theoretically, with WP, and low fuel, the car can be brrought down to under 1400kg then

User avatar

cosimo  2m ago

1400 ? under ? are they planning to use bed sheets to reduce weight ? or call chrysler to lend them their extra super thin cardboard sheets ? lol

User avatar

Fastedee  2m ago

They could go the Jag route and call its successor the GT2 RRS lol.

User avatar

Fastedee  2m ago

Do you need a more powerful car? The Turbo S already punches a hole in time with 556 bhp.

User avatar

cosimo  2m ago

another 911 with a larger wing to give needle dicks even more ego, how pathetic of vw

700hp that will need a perrier refill every 10-mins to stay at that power level lolololololol

i expect to see many of them getting wrecked, because race car for the streets lol

another poo stuff product from vw

User avatar

Fastedee  2m ago

What a lad!

User avatar

cosimo  2m ago @Fastedee

a bottle of cold perrier water is good for releasing gas when you're mad braw

User avatar

RSR  2m ago

Why not an RSR for the road?

User avatar

FastestLaps  2m ago

If they add another "R" and some extra 30-50 horsepower couple of years later, you will get RSR... Although.. not a N.A. "racecar for the road" like the real RSR :D

User avatar

BR2+  2m ago

My question is, Why is there even an RS right now? Why is there no non RS model GT2 first? Doesnt make much sense to me as to why they would do this, Kinda weird they would skip over tradition since 93 and just bring out the most hardcore version, Thas like Aston going from 7 to 9.

I personally think its stupid not to have a "Normal" GT2, Whats next just a GT3RS for there future? I dont care for that bad color scheme either, Either way, This will monster every damn car out there.

User avatar

saxy  2m ago

Well I don't quite mind it. Because there technically is no "GT2" series anymore to begin with. Whatever this is, it's the hardcore turbo track car which has been long overdue
