This car achieved the highest top speed at the millbrook bowl of any car EVO has tested - 181.4 MPH and part of the circuit was damp! By contrast previously tested Lambo Gallardos and Aston DB9s managed no more than 172 MPH.

At Bruntingthorpe, the GT3 managed 183 MPH, 4 more than the 997.1 turbo and only 3 less than the Ford GT. Its obviously quite a slippery shape with a real top end. The published 0.100 and 0-200 KPH times dont do this car justice, it really does fly!

As always with Porsche they do the Biz, whilst other cars flatter to deceive....

Anonymity can be found behind a mask Anonymous. Tis the smallest of errors that can give the game away so well spotted. Sadly I have had to hang my nomex up for a while until the winds of fortune waft in my direction once more. My beloved GT3 only dancing her dance by the light of a full moon. (Once a month). So glad the bickering over the GT-R's prowess has subsided. Both GT3 and GT-R are technical marvels and deserving of their status. Lets enjoy them while we still can and be thankful that we are fortunate to own one. By the way, had the speedo register 323kph a while back on a private airstrip. No GPS to verify, wind behind and slightly down hill. Has anyone out there recorded similar and what do you think the actual kph would have been.

How does the GT3 do the best time in th SA wet handling test? aren Semi Slick tyres the worst for wet surfaces? or am i wrong in saying i has Semis?

just sold the gtr for a 997 rs, the gtr is the faster car but the rs is more fun. they are both very good cars.

"last time i checked the gtr beat the gt3 in the 1/4 mile and 0-124, and last time i checked the gtr did 0-124 in 11.4 secs and hit the 1/4 mile in 11.5 at 125! soooo how have porsche produced a faster 0-124 and 1/4 mile time???"

you say it look at 0 to 125

the gt-r finish the 1/4 mile at about 200km/h and the new gt3 reach this speed before the gt-r does plus the new gt3 reach 312km/h top speed when the gt-r is limited to 180 km/h in japan and 310 for the rest...

Ive only seen 1 test of the gtr going fro 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds, other than that theve all donebetween 3.1 and 3.4. and from 0-200mph from 7.7 to 9.2 and the tarmac can make a big difference

the GTR costs no where near $120,000! the price as tested is $80,000 US Dollars, maybe you live in Australia where the GTR cost around $120,000USD????

I really like both cars but still do not understand how the GTR can acheive those times with that heavy weight??? Anyway where does everybody come up with $70000, when the GTR costs $120000!!!

well how have the same awd system in a near 2 ton car with an extremely good launch control system get 3.3 0-60 and 4.1 by same tester (car and driver)? there is no way conditions can make that kind of a difference the gt-r can easily get all of whatever power it was making to the ground. the gt3 may win in acceleration because its 800 lbs lighter, has a smaller frontal area but obviously if youre getting one of those "ringer" gt-rs its gonna be faster in a straight line.

"is right on the money, its true the gtr beats it in most tracks and in a straightline, eventhough its 900lsb heavier, which in itself is astonishing, but id rather have a gt3!"

this is goin to end soon porsche already produce a faster 0-200 and 1/4mile and top speed gt3 facelift
already

and they were smart to not include the pdk on it lets wait for the track performance figure...

i wouldnt say that 70k would be a waste on the gtr, but i would rather spend an extra 30k on the gt3. dont get me started on the SpecV crap and its $185,000 bullshit price tag, gimme a gt2!
same here, i wouldnt waste my 70k (imaginary 70k :) on a car that isn't as thrilling as doesnt really amaze you at all driving along everyday.

Had a chance to go head to head with a GTR the other day. My GT3 couldn't keep up on the straightaways or in the corners. Swapped cars just in case it was my naff driving but same result. Have achieved a 0-100 of 4sec and Vmax of 306 with the GT3. Overall impression of the GTR is marred by the slightly detached experience it delivers. Very quick, especially in the corners, but I'll keep my GT3 thanks. Oh and I disagree with anonymous on the exhaust issue. At full bore the GT3 sounds spinechilling and driving it in the mountains is an aural feast.
