According to 5th gear the Gallardo and R8 only share 15% of their parts. The
chassie is different and at the end only the tranny and some electronic stuff is
shared. The R8 use a Aluminium space frame but they share the same layout.
why is everyone comparing this to the carrera S when the prices are much
different. They should compare it to the Porsche 997 GT3 that had similar price
and power.

i think this is one of uglyest car last years...with that terrible black line on
the side....the first tt was a masterpiece this is a shitty thing...
nothing to say on the tech...(take a lambo and do a carbon copy..is easyer than
begin from white paper mclaren teach ...)
when it pass the people turn head...on other side!!

1. the car is so ugly that it recive tons of awards
2. the R8 shares only 15% of it´s parts with the Gallardo... and the only big
part they share is the stick shift transmission the rest is new ...fact is more
new developt parts from the R8 went to Lamborghini to improve the Gallardo!

I also disagree with you, leonekk. I find the new Audi R8 quite good looking and
so do fairly large group of other people, including designers, artists and
automotive journalists. The Audi R8 design is quite radical. And with new
unusual designs there always will be those who like them and those who find them
unattractive or even plain ugly. And both are right because it is a question of
personal taste - your personal liking, your understanding of beauty and how a
sports-coupe/sedan (whatever) should look like. Cars like Aston Martin DB9 or
Audi A4 have more common, conservative shape and lines that we are used to so
their looks probably are appealing for larger group of people. Cars like Audi
R8, Ferrari Enzo or recent BMW 5-7 series are loved or hated. Either you love
how they look or hate it. It is very hard to benchmark the beauty of particular
car. It's hard to extract a simple "coefficient of beauty". The only way to get
it is to make a huge poll asking a lot of people whether they like or dislike
how the car looks and in Audi R8 case my guess is that majority of people would
find it attractive.
