Funnyest thing is a fact that this car was made to be Group B rally racer. And
959 off-road modification participated in Dakar Rally. As a roadcar it was
competitor to Ferrari F40. 959 was a uubercar at it's time. Very sophisticated
and quick accelerating.
According to its technical data and the sophisticated 4wd it should have been
faster than 288 gto at any track. I think that it is faster than a 993 turbo. I
do not belive that 1.37 in Fiorano was a "flat out" lap! Can we find other lap
times?
I agree. The 959 is faster than a lot of cars in that Fiorano list. But it's
very very hard to find any lap times and track tests for such an old and exotic
car. But you can try.
Hello!
I'm an italian sportscars fun, so i can find many Fiorano laptimes in Italian
magazine.
Yor list is wrong for some models.
Ferrari 456, for example, is not able to lap in 1.35, just too fast for that
model.
Correct time is 1:40.
Ferrari 512 TR is wrong too.
It's a very heavy model, unable to compare with F 355.
Its correct time in italian magazines is 1.37.
Ferrari Testarossa (1984) is not in your list.
Its lap is 1:41.
Ferrari 328 GTB lap in 1.44.
@ fox and both the 959 and F40 were owned hard at a Nardo high speed test by the
RUF CTR... the CTR blows the doors out of both others, quicker accelerating
faster topspeed and cheaper to buy.. and thanks to the small standart 911
chassie easy to use as daily driver
RUF is a independent car producer by internatinal law since over 30years. They
produce cars and they tune cars, the CTR is their own product with own
manufactor number.
The CTR3 has a own production plant in saudi arabia...
Fox learn facts befor making comments...
RUF recive from Porsche chassies without any producer numbers, the RUF
production engines only share the layout with Porsche flat 6, they use different
cyl heads valves pistons etc etc.
Its funny how the 2010 turbo has alot more horsepower than the 959 and yet 0-100
is about same, i would say the evolution of the turbo in the Porsche is a little
slow. After 14 years you would think they could have harnessed the power to
acheive a supercar status based on the 959 considering the Mclaren SLR was a
power flop also, considering the price. Thumbs up to the Nissan GTR for causing
a stir and how young this car is and imagine how this car will be in 5 years,
shame on Porsche for being behind.
How stupid are you? the Turbo will WASTE this in a straightline and around a
track, 0-100kmh or mph is not similar, and the Turbo is very much a supercar.
and the SLR is nowhere near a power flop.
Technology has improved but emissions standards, crash standards, etc. have also
gone up. People also want more luxury in their sportscars which also adds
weight.
It's always hard to compare modern cars to older ones.
