It wont be long before production cars are having that many gears, VW is already working on a 10Speed, so were not far off, But as DCTs take the lead, Wat else can we expect to come from cars?

My work vehicle has fifteen speeds, and none of them are for reverse! I actuate the three ranges with my left hand, and the five speeds (for each range) with my right hand. Typically the hills aren't difficult so I just use the #2 range with its five speeds. But of course it is a bicycle. :)

Why do they need 10 and more speed transmissions? You will break your head counting all gears... and just to improve mileage?

I hate these modern tendencies to make a normal car maximally complex, "hyper-functional", that's a waste of money. People go crazy on that...

12 speeds are not needed in a normal car. A 4x4 with a differential for high, medium and low ranges maybe.. but not a normal car. I have a ATV that has 15 forward and 3 reverse gears but they are useful for offroading.

I'd hate to see the replacement cost. The regular 5 speed auto nissan is using in its pickups costs $2600 to replace if it goes out... ridiculous.

Awhile ago i herd of a company, dunno who, that was developing a tranny that u solely change gears with your feet, kinda like pressing the clutch, except your switching gears with ever press of the pedal, 4 pedals in the car, i thought that was pretty cool, haven't herd anything about tht in awhile though.

And VolksWagen is also working on eith a 10 or 12 speed transmission...i know

Some of thes ideas/thoughts/tech are crazy, was also n idea about if u pass gas in a car, the car would pick up on unwanted or unpleasant smells and adjust the air quality, or smell of the car lol i haven't herd anything TOO crazy lately, but im sure we will

Yes its America. Ridiculous how many people here cannot drive a manual. I've encountered it many times.. needing someone else to drive one of my rides but they cant because they have never used a manual before.

So many of the cars here are autos that seeing someone with a manual is becoming a bit rare. Nissan only produces one car model with a manual trans now.. the 370.

yeah pretty sure.

its the only country where u can have a license without being able to drive a manual.

Seemed like a nice dude and I always wanted to give a audi a go round so when he offered I didnt give it a second thought. He seemed to know what a V model caddy is. When he couldnt drive mine I gave him a ride in the V that he wont soon forget ; ) Got a "special" road that I know by heart that you can get air on 3 times in less than half a mile if you have enough power to pull through the corners and up the hills.. no one forgets a drive down that road lol.

Just put it in 2nd an watch him roll lol Still, if your gonna ask to drive sum1s car, atleast KNOW wat your getting in to, he could just be excited to drive a cool looking car

Not even sure he could handle getting going in first gear. He seemed oblivious to anything about manuals. He turned the key and looked pretty confused when it did not start. Apparently he was oblivious to the manual shifter right beside him and the clutch pedal that needs to be pressed to start the engine.

Got to be careful who you let drive your ride. I just sort of assumed since the guy offered he already knew mine was a manual. It was good for a nice laugh with a few of my friends anyway and I got to drive a audi down the interstate ;)

...Shoulda just let him stay in 1st gear lol

I got to drive one of these audis tonight. Not really sure which model it was just that it was a 3.0 turbo with awd. I didnt get to thrash it but I liked the tight steering.. felt very nice.

The owner offered to let me drive his if I let him drive my CTS-V. I took out his audi first and when we got back he hopped in my CTS and couldnt drive it because its a manual. Seemed like a nice guy but sort of douchey that he couldnt drive a manual.
