I had a numbers matching 67' Z-28/RS (similar to photo but year earlier). The motor was a 302 ci. Chevy chopped the 327 block to make a short stroke high revving motor for Trans AM racing. Trans AM cars were limited to 302 until 1971 (340 ci after). The 302 had 11 to 1 pistons, and was a high revving motor. It was advertised at 290 HP (actually had more than the 327ci and the same as the 350ci). Peak HP was "down played" ...but most likely about 300-320 range. It was not designed for drag racing. My car "bone stock" could get 14.5 sec in 1/4 mile. Zero to sixty was about 6.5 seconds.

True output is 400 hp. Old Reliable version can run to 10.8 sec for 1/4 mile.

Ok, before Georg or Fl or any mods delete this. Please read:

This car represents a 68/69 camaro with factory options that were installed on sight at the dealer. The power modifications include dual Holley carbs, air cleaner, and a plenum assembly.

The car was rated at 290hp by GM, but with these factory options, power is estimated to be closer to 400hp.
