@fastestlaps please change the torque to 610 Nm and delete the topspeed and the 0-100kph.

https://fastestlaps.com/models/pontiac-gto-ram-air-v probably the fastest pony/muscle car at the time. 6.6L 525hp and 183mph.... only 4 were made but they'd planned too make 250

My father said if 376 Hp in Camaro 427 ZL1 is not official net Hp. It can be different in other car because it hand build engine. My father ever seen this car when he works @ GM. There's 3 Camaro ZL1 that will be do a dyno test. 2 were SS ZL1 and the last is RS ZL1 and all of them is fully stock form and still using same part like in 1969. Those 3 car had different Hp. number 1 first SS got 350 Hp, number 2 RS got 376 Hp and the last SS got 325 Hp. Some worker said they ever found a ZL1 with 400 Hp net. They said the Hp it's depend the fuel and how the owner treat the engine. My father also said that Chevy is doing something wrong. When he drive ZL1 in the first time, he feel very good balance than any other first gen Camaro. It also handle better than SS 396 model. He feel bad if chevy only use it for NHRA drag racing instead for track use since it had very good balance and handling than SS 396, light like 327 SS but move like a rocket.

@Driver yep, as far as I know this would be the quickest of all the cars in its time. Stock it could get down the quarter mile in 13.1 seconds at 110 mph. Tuned of course it was much quicker. Even stock this engine had 376 bhp net comparable to many of today's high performance cars. Amazing performance for 1969.

The article from car and driver, the only test for a stock '69 Camaro ZL1 unless someone can provide the old ones.
PS: thanks Viking.

@Mike B Your research is 100 percent correct. Car and Driver explained it all when they tested the same car (the one that did 13.1 at 110 mph when new). They launched it with extreme care and still managed to get into the upper 13s when they tested the old car in (I think) 1997. They said the engine could be easily tuned for over 500 hp (gross), but that stock it dynos at 376 bhp net. Still an amazing output for 1969!

550hp stock? yeah, without the OEM exhaust and racing headers and more. People need to do research and not believe every number they find, a fully stock ZL1 engine produced "only" around 470 gross hp, and 376 net hp, which is consistent with one of the only tests done to a car in stock condition, the one from High Performance Cars who got a 13.1 1/4 at 110mph, all those 11.8,11.6 and more crazy times were made by cars tuned and modified for the dragstrip.

if i\'m don\'t go wrong the engine of the zl1 was handbuild and hapends the same than the gt-r, in japan has proved one and it gives 475hp but in america have proved other and has 507. i have seen it in top gear.

McSalsa@: Not only a 1969 could run in high 11's but it's could be even faster...first of all 430hp is not the real output. Second, The COPO (like many Muscle Cars) had a short differencial.
The car is a 1969 built? So what? Modern car doesn't mean exaclty a faster car. You heard about the energy crisis in 1973? So the cars after that became more efficient and tecnological, but not improve so much in power or performance in straight line, capisce?

Not only was this engine actually around 550 hp stock but it is also a 110 lb aluminum block. WOW that is 40 years ago. Imagine not needing a engine hoist to put in a big block haha RAWR
Srry for reopening a really old post

The 69 Zl1 could do 11.8s / If you ptook off the stock headers with slicks the car could do 10.5-10.7

Nissan GT-R is underrated example of modern cars. Nearly all independent tests show higher output than factory spec. But it is always safer to stick to official manufacturers data.

If they claimed 430 then we have to keep it 430. The one with 550 may have been modified/tuned for more output than others.
