@ Hamcee: I think this car was bought at an auction, the highest bidder was willing to pay that much for the car.

User avatar

Hamcee  12y ago

supply and demand.
if somebody is willing to spend 35m on this car than its NOT overpriced.

its absurdly high, but not overpriced.

it could have been 100m and it still wouldnt be overpriced

User avatar

Mental  12y ago

The car is, of course, gorgeous... But 27.5m bucks is A BIT overpriced.

For that money you could afford ~107 modern 458 Italias, or about 20 LaFerraris. Insane :D

"for that kind of money I'd build my own race track... :D"

Well, I doubt you could build a Serious race track for 27.5m. But your Own hypercar - for sure. Maybe even manage a limited production of these Supermachines that would carry your name!

Shaggy  12y ago

@ Flabernat: That would be a good idea, I'd probably do the same, wee desperately need a road course around here, all we have are dirt tracks. More realistically, I'd buy a 3 story house, a few really nice cars, and save the rest. ;)

User avatar

Flabernat  12y ago

@Shaggy, for that kind of money I'd build my own race track... :D

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

@ lafars: That's a heck of a lot of money, you can buy a half a neighborhood worth of houses for that much money where I live.

User avatar

lafars  12y ago

@shaggy

i calculated, you can buy 14 veyron SS for that price or probably 12-13 veyron SS fully equipped OR probably 9-10 veyron one-offs

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

@ lafars: $35,000,000 ?!!!!! That's like 15 Bugatti Veyrons, but being that it's a classic Ferrari, I'm not too surprised, oh, who am I kidding? My mind's blown! :D

BR2+  12y ago

Im WELL aware of historical significances in cars and how much they go for. but why invest? If you can spend THAT much money on a car, do you really need MORE money?

lol Man, I haven't seen that show in YEARS!! That Megas is TOTALLY worth $27M!! Where can I get one?..

User avatar

lafars  12y ago

rarity, uniqueness and historic value is what makes the price become so high, not preformance

^ i found the car you're looking for BR2

@ br2
This is far from 'blowing your money' . People spending this money know what they are doing. Its an investment ! If you get your STI for 40 k selling it for 20 k after 3 years then you are the one who blew 20 k. If you have the money to invest 27 mln today knowing that you can sell this car for 35 mln in A Few years you ll make 8 mln . No office job will get you that kinda money that easy :)

Fangio Man  12y ago

@Iggz
No, that was a Ferrari 250 GT Spyder California. ;)

User avatar

Iggz  12y ago

Isnt it that ferrari from 'ferris buellers day off' ??

User avatar

Fangio Man  12y ago

I read Audi bought back some old Auto Union race cars for over 100.000.000 €...

"$27,500,000?! That would make this the most expensive car ever sold."

Nope. It is only the 2nd most expensive sold at auction. The 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 (driven by Juan Manuel Fangio) sold for $29.7M.

There have been others that have sold privately for more like the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for $35M last year.

@BR2+...
Cars in this range aren't sold for what they are based on what they can do. They are rare and historic (much like a rare painting or sculpture). Fine art has been sold for over $100M at auction. One of "The Card Players" by Paul Cézanne sold for over $250M.

Don't know why they would spend that much on a car, If I had that much, id be living my life peacefully and comfortably, seems like they have too much money, or more money for brains.

Pretty soon the first Billion dollar car will be here.

But unless this car can Fly, Go underwater, I can sleep in it, It gives me a message all over, cooks me 5 star meals, makes me a drink, gives me sexual services, gives me a haircut, can turn into a TransFormer, fly in outer space to distant planets, has internet, and live in it with security, has a V8/V12/ and can turn invisible, it aint worth that amount.

User avatar

lafars  12y ago

no, that would go to the green 250 GTO originally sold to sir stirling moss with a pricetag of $35 million at an auction

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

$27,500,000?! That would make this the most expensive car ever sold.

User avatar

BR2+  12y ago

Ill never understand why people would blow such a hue amount of money on an automobile, such a waste, $27M..Honestly...

User avatar

Fangio Man  12y ago

@Z
$ 27.5 million. ;)

User avatar

Z  12y ago

It was sold for $ 27 million.

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

@ Fangio Man: Considering I've never heard of this car, I was pretty close. ;D

User avatar

Fangio Man  12y ago

@Shaggy
155,34 mph ;)

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

Beautiful car, 3.3 liters is a tiny V12, I'm used to them being around 6.0 liters, 320 horsepower was pretty good for a V12 back then, top speed is most likely around 150 MPH.

0-100 kph: 6.7 seconds
Topspeed: 250 kph

It was designed by Pininfarina, only 10 units were built. One will be sold at an auction. Estimated price: around 15.000.000 $
