Guys. Just read
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/car/11q1/2012_ford_focus_u.s.-spec-first_drive_review

3rd paragraph. \"Developed and tuned in Germany,...\"

New Global Focus is car from Europe. No doubt.

It doesn\'t matter where developed Still Ford. I know.

Focus MKII(European version) is great car - excellent handling and feedback. I hope that new one will be on par...

@georg

Are those cars built on a European frame? Is there going to be seperate pages for the versions with American engines?

I was under the impression that this was a european designed model.. that will be used globally.

I don't know the current situation but older Chrysler and Jeep diesels used to be VM Motori units and those in current Jeep Cherokee - debadged Mercedes Benz 320CDis.

Nuclear fuel rods would probably be cheaper than gas HA!

I am sure they already are and by a multitude. And you wouldn't have to fill up or charge batteries. Your car would probably last it's service lifetime as it came from factory.

Here's an old blueprint for nuclear powered locomotive.

550x800m

Biggest problem for nuclear reactor in small vehicles is the amount of mass needed for radiation shielding.

Well, no, I actually take that back. The biggest problem would be dealing with health and safety environmental protection agencies convincing them that idea of thausands of nuclear reactors wizzing past apartment buildings and occasionally crashing into each other wouldn't pose danger of any kind to inhabitants or environment. :D

Unless you're going to North pole or Moon or Mars, you don't need a mobile nuclear reactor. All you need is a good battery...

@monkepop

there are Jeeps, Chrysler 300C, Dodge Caliber etc avaible in Europe with diesel engines does that make them less US?
The diesel engines used in the Focus are Ford engines ...
End of discussion

Or do you think we need to change the nation on the diesel powered Mitsubishi Lancer to Germany because the Lancers diesel engines are all from VW....

\"I would love to have nuclear powered Focus!\"

Of course - Ford is American company. This Global Focus will be selling in more than 120 countries(If I remember right) - just with a little variations(some engines, etc.). So far It was big difference between Europe and American one. This new one is much more simillary Europe...

Georg, this engine option will not be avaliable in the U.S. How can this cars home country be U.S.A when we dont even have this model here?

The MK3 is a European model regardless of engine option. Even the American version is built on a European platform. The U.S version of the Focus has been discontinued and replaced with the new European \"global\" model. Although they call it a \"global\" model only two engine options will be in the U.S.. the T.D not being one of them.

Have to agree with you Pavel. Even though this is a Ford which is American, this one is a European model. We dont even have the diesel engines here in America. This is strait up europe.
