Hockenheim GP 1:52,7

Autozeitung 10/2013

To be more exactly it should be the facelifted 2013 version.

this is my favourite gumpert.
but i wont buy one because its hard to drive it.
in my opinion this car is faster than the ferrari fxx.
i cant be sure but it could be true.

@Derb

Accoring to the sport auto supertest the Apollo Sport Mk1 generates total 196kg of Downforce at 200km/h...whereas Gumpert suggests that it would match the weight at 270km/h

i read the apollo can drive on the roof at topspeed

Great job georg, you are a car maniac! I do love this car, its my favorite of all gumperts this or maybe the r (race) version. It has immence downforce, meaning a great track car. It could go faster than the gumpert tested earlier this (or was it last year?) around norschleife. It is probably one of my fav cars so please respect it for what it is, a fire breathing supercar!

anonymous that are all untrue factory claims... the Carrera GT produce 89kg downforce at 125mph/200km/h..and it is one of the very good cars

The Viper SRT 10 produce a lift of 3kg at 125mph... how should a ACR produce 249kg(550lbs) downforce at 150mph? adding a huge rear wing does not mean huge amount of downforce...

All that downforce claims by car producer are datasheet shining claims they know no one controlls this claims...
I know only one car magazine in the world that realy test the aerodynamic to controll manufactor claims (sportauto) and one thing is sure.. ALL manufactors claim bullshit in terms of aerodynmaic and downforce...

There are only a handfull of prodcution cars in the world that create more than 50kg(~110lbs) downfoce at 125mph/200km/h

and of that rare group the Apollo is two classes abouve all other with twice the downforce than the next best...

Herd the ACR produces 1100lbs at 150, would the Apollo produce more at that speed? and i also herd the Carrera GT and Enzo Produce a huge amount too, and i also(yes lol) herd the Saleen claims 3000lbs+ for the S7 TwinTurbo, but i dont no at what speed, Along with a very similar figure for the MT900 GTR XX. i would look, but sadly i dont know where

topspeed is not important for track cars... a Veyron accelerate faster than a F1 north of 150mph... but a F1 drives circles around a Vyron on a race track

The Apollo Sport creates 196kg downforce at 125mph/200km/h
To compare the Zonda F creates 26kg downforce at 125mph/200km/h

tested by a independent car magazine..

I have made a topic about sportauto windtunnel tests..

Yez it does, give the car mor DF with same everything, and it will have a slower top end, meaning a slower 0-186mph time, give it less, and it will have a better one. BUT, in a way ur are kinda right, there are more things to consider.

So how much does it produce at 124mph? kg or lbs. and given the increased downforce, wouldnt that hurt the straightline speed also? given it does have more bhp and torque.

More downforce does not always mean more drag.

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

sorry not 1/3... the Zonda F produce only 1/7 of the Apollo Sport MkI downforce at 125mph... this should produce even more

User avatar

Anonymous  15y ago

1/3? really?

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

@tobe a Zonda isn´t even close to the Gumpert track perfromance...
Gumpert totaly focused on downforce creating body.. you can have a nice car or you can build a track toy... the Zonda does not even create 1/3 of the Apollo donwforce

User avatar

tobe8  15y ago

but being a road legal production vehicle it should be the task of the designer to achieve an esthetic design without spoiling the engineering. for example a zonda is also an epic trackday car and you can look at it with an esthetic view...

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

looking at a trackday car with esthetic view is the failure ... not the car design

User avatar

tobe8  15y ago

it just looks as awful as always... and the led-lights look like some aftermarket crap... no offense, but looking at this with an esthetic view, it just fails completely...

User avatar

BumRush  15y ago

Thats just what this thing needed, more power, and more downforce, (rolls eyes) but it looks a hell of alot better, even if the changes are subtle.

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

the 2010 Apollo sport... 50hp more power, more space inside, first time avaible as right hand drive, improved aerodynamic creating even more downforce, new exhust system, Audi styled LED lights and reworked rear..
