It appears that we are missing this cars pre-2014 VIR lap time! It did a 3:13.9, here is the Car and Driver feature: https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a15116856/lightning-lap-2013-hot-cars-hot-track-hot-laps-feature/

@Super8 if you drive to a racetrack with a GT-R (R35) the limiter is off.
but a electronic speedlimiter was never a big problem ^^v

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

@ Super8: That is ridiculous!

User avatar

Super8  11y ago

Want to see something more ridiculous? Nissan GT-R in Japan limited to 180 km/h. Lexus LFA also had same case. All the sport cars besides Porsche and American cars are limited to 180 km/h in Japan. But some fast saloon like Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, Audi are using 250 km/h limit instead 180 km/h.

A Power Limit should be used, Any car with over 260Bhp, Shouldn't be limited by Law, Don't se the point in giving a car THAT much then Limiting it, Its a waste of engineering and performance.

Also...The last time I had Crabs...I didn't like them-_-

User avatar

Viking  11y ago

LOL, I completely agree.

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

@ Viking: Putting a governor in a car is like someone dumping a bushel of steamed Maryland Blue Crabs from the Chesepeake bay in front of you and letting you only eat one. It's just plain wrong.

User avatar

Viking  11y ago

@Shaggy yep a 114 mph governor on current 300 plus hp V6 Mustangs is ridiculous, but true. Car and Driver repeatedly hit the governor while doing laps at VIR. I have exceeded 114 mph in every car I have owned since 1990 (many times in each car I have to admit). I guess that is why I should be driving a Lamborghini. LOL :)

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

@ Viking: The V6 Mustang's top speed is restricted to 114 MPH?, I got to that speed in my Dakota once. It's pitiful. If I were the CEO of a car company it would be as old school as possible, no hybrids, no electrics, no dual clutch transmissions, only manual in the performance cars, and definitely no limiters.

User avatar

Viking  11y ago

@Shaggy I agree, it is a shame that car manufacturers frequently put speed governors on their high performance cars. The current V6 Mustangs are even worse, I am sure that drivers are always hitting the 114 mph governor nearly every day. Totally ridiculous! Modern tires on these cars can handle the speed, so what's their problem?

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

@ Viking: It's a shame, too, the Genesis Coupe is the car that turned me on to Hyundais.
@ Fangio Man: My mistake, I just remembered that I actually got the top speed claim from automobile-catalog.com. (facepalm) XS

User avatar

Fangio Man  11y ago

173 mph factory claimed? 0_o

I doubt. LOL

User avatar

Viking  11y ago

Unfortunately they have it governed to only 151 mph: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-hyundai-genesis-coupe-38-r-spec-test-review

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

..Id give it 168Mph.

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

I've got the top speed: 173 MPH (factory claim).

This car need to be tested more. It have great potential.

Its propably the best fun and performance RWD car on the road for its price. It also have 5 years unlimited warranty. So for sure its the most safe to buy when someone want to drive hard.

It isnt perfect, but what it offers for it price. Bargin entry level spors car. I would pick it instead of overhyped GT86/BRZ anyday.

User avatar

Mental  12y ago

So a lot of power and torque, and RWD... But so slow? I would expect the acceleration data and laptimes to be on par with 370Z... Bad test? Or is it slow because it is a Hyundai?...

However, the exterior is kind of appealing, to be honest, not bad, as for Hyundai. And the price too.

User avatar

Fsjoku  12y ago

Actually 0-60 is 5.0 sec
Not 5.2 sec because I've seen it in YouTube there were testing the genesis with mustang v6 the genesis is 0.1 faster then the mustang

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

Hyundai has my attention, they're taking names and kicking butt, lately!

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

Motor Trend tested this car and today posted the performance. 0-60 mph in 5.2, 0-100 mph in 13.3, and 1/4 mile in 13.9@102.2 mph. Quite good for the price.

User avatar

Jeff B  13y ago

It's "A" or "S", if you look at the post log, you'll see he's added a whole lot of crap, he'll be banned soon i'm guessing.

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

Okay, who is the joker that put in the bogus lap time? I just noticed it. Hopefully a mod is available soon to eliminate it and any other bogus lap times.

User avatar

Viking  13y ago

I will have to see it in person before passing judgement on its new styling. Nice power increase though. I will look forward to it being tested at Virginia International Raceway by Car and Driver. With the new power it should be able to match or beat the V6 Mustang and the 370Z. I am not so sure about the new styling. Maybe it just doesn't photograph well.

User avatar

phavyarden  13y ago

Agree with u Jeff, i don't know what was Hyundai thinking with this facelift

User avatar

Jeff B  13y ago

They made it five times uglier with this facelift, bleh.
