@mikee
What\'s wrong with the inline 6 engines? Unlike the V6 engines inline 6 engines have perfect primary and secondary mechanical balance, they are smoother and simplier because they don\'t need balance shafts and other accessories to reduce the vibration.
On the other hand just some names: Skyline GT-Rs, Toyota Supras, BMWs. Are these cars are bad?
There is only one way where V6s are better: size.

In my opinion a luxury car should have at least 6 cylinder if it\'s a n/a petrol, 5 cylinder if it\'s a turbodiesel or supercharged/turbocharged petrol.

That\'s just subjective opinion with no real reasoning behind it.

And the 6 cylinders also should inline 6s not V6s.

Sure!

This car makes sense. It's for mature luxury car buyer who wants both - the ultimate in luxury AND fuel economy. Nobody likes to spend bags of money at gas stations - even folks who can afford S-class.

As far as performance goes - this will outrun many of it's classic predecessors with petrol 6 and 8 cylinder engines.

First 4 cylinder S-Class Mercedes.

I'm sure this car will have laptimes because there will be car magazines who are curious what can a 4 cylinder S-Class do around a track. Leastwise I think.
