Naming schemes and their turbocharged engine translations:

AMG 65 — 6.0L x 2.0 = 12.0L (because it can handle up to 885 lb-ft with stock internals)

AMG 63 — 4.0L x 1.5/2.0 = 6.0/8.0L (because torque ranges from 443 to 664 lb-ft with no electric motors); treat non-S models like 6.0L models and S models like 8.0L models

AMG 55 — 4.0L x 2.0 = 8.0L (for new SL55 AMG model since it produces 516 lb-ft at a very low rpm, it doesn't qualify for "just" 6.0L)

AMG New 53/New 63 — 2.0L x 3.0 = 6.0L (multiplication by 3 is rare; for instance, Koenigsegg Gemera of similar displacement needs multiplication of "only" [2+⅔])

AMG 45 — 2.0L x 2.25/2.5 = 4.5/5.0L (non-S models are 4.5, S models are Mustang/Lexus-grade 5.0)

AMG New 43 — 2.0L x 2.0 = 4.0L

AMG 35 — 2.0L x 2.0 = 4.0L (at 295 lb-ft of torque it's pretty much maxed out for a n.a. 3.5L engine)

AMG ONE — 1.6L x 3.0 = 4.8L (at 443 lb-ft without electric motors this hypercar would have THE most torque per liter of ANY production engine!)

Old 43/53 is 3.0L x 1.5 = 4.5L equivalent because they make less than 400 lb-ft of torque.

There is absolutely no sedan (carrying an Audi or BMW badge) that competes with an S65 AMG. The S63 AMG, yes (competes with the Alpina B7 and the S8 Plus); but the S65 AMG is a completely different beast — and extremely special and relatively exotica.

The BMW M760Li has a V12 and that's pretty much the only thing it has in common with the S65; otherwise it's just a 750Li M Sport with 4 extra cylinders. The "M" 760 was pretty much designed to replace the outgoing 'non-M' 760 while carrying the "feel good" badge.

The Bentley Flying Spur W12 and Rolls-Royce Ghost are the S65 AMG's only true rivals; the Maybach variant competes with the Mulsanne Speed and the Phantom.

The A8, 7 Series, G90, XJ, LS, and Quattroporte all compete in the lower end of the S-Class's segment ;-)

I wish the new Ford Crown Victoria came out. I think it will be a 2015/2016 model. They should have both: a modified Ecoboost V6 (around 405 horsepower) and a Mercedes-Benz V12 engine (producing 621 horsepower), the same as this car.

The facelifted S65 AMG.

The engine remains untouched power / torque numbers. But the "Ultimate of ultimates" got a diet and a newer 7-speed automatic transmission. I'm curious why the 4Matic is not available for the S65? Because RWD does not much fit this car...

I'm not satisfied with the aesthetics though. Looks too ordinary to be the top AMG model... Not enough sport, aggression.

Well, maybe this S65 AMG is the fastest Überklasse saloon, in line with the Flying Spur, but I would still prefer the S8.
