Used to steal my girlfriend’s parents GT and have a blast on Sunset Boulevard! So much fun, I was only 15

I had a gt fastback and put a small block chevy aprox 425hp, it screamed, hooked up great drove the rear tires right into the pavement, now the down side, even with the v6 stock and then with the v8 this was even more exaggerated the front to back wheel base is to short, another words it's design the car over powered the steering it plowed, in turns especially wet or a little gravely it still kinda wanted to go straight, there's a lot of them in the bone yard because of this, long highway turning roads no problem inter city turns around 45 mph or higher it could be like oh crap the front end isn't gripping and boom, parked car or curb etc, it dosen't take much to reck them, but i loved the novelty of it and it was definitely a head turner

Fiero is a fine little sports car...2 things to do to it upon purchase is install a nice wide set of flat profile tires and realign to new tires..
The 5 speed is way better than the 4...
Had a little 84/5 Am4...regularly took curvy roads at 80mph that I wouldn't do 60mph in much of anything else...
Will , before I die have another , but a Gt this time , and build a nice little monster V-6 for it...300hp minimum...get it handling rite, and grow old in a comfortable reclined position...

I strongly believe most of the comments on this page is from people who have never rebuilt or owned a fiero. This car has real cool air induction intake rackapinion steering and full indapendent suspention
all the way around. most parts are off the shelf left over production parts from the Sitations.

"Although i dont think it should have been mid engined(Kinda weird that it was..)"
At least it's an extraordinary. But I really wonder how the engine takes the air?
Yeah, would be pretty cool to see its modern successor, but how the SRT? If the Pontiac was included in GM concern, so it should be Chevy then. Kinda like a Vette with a mid-engine.

I actually like this car...
Although i dont think it should have been mid engined(Kinda weird that it was..)
I wouldnt mind seeing a new Fiero GT under the SRT name though(Since Pontiac is sadly gone)

@Mental yep, this is the only U.S. mass-produced car with a mid-engine placement. Very good looking, but the engineering was budget limited. Only in the final year (1988) was the suspension improved to handle like it looks. I have an old Car and Driver issue (February 1986) with a full road test. They basically said that it looks good, but the handling and steering weren't as good as an MR2.

Does it really have the engine at the middle? ..Sounds pretty strange for an American car. And then how the air passes to the engine? I don't any air intake.
It actually has pretty good power for an advanced sportscar in '84, but if this was claimed a supercar..?
80-ties were horrible times for muscles successors. Why it was so? The only American supercar, which survived those times successfully was the Corvette.
Though this Fiero looks pretty good.

Mine had no problem doing well over 100 and have a couple of tickets to prove One crossing Missouri and another in the open plains of west texas. Was probably doing faster in other places but didn't get caught
