@ Viking : Thank for information my friend , I agree with you about valve float at above 6500 rpm for near % 98 of big blocks in 1962-1973 , but not about all of them . I read so many articles and books from 1967- that tell me about some special engines from Pontiac and chevy (street version not racing modifications ) Could reach over 7 without serious problems , RA IV , RA V , SD 421, SD 455 , L-72 And L-88 .
I never have TA RAIV but I owned a RA III Trans Am 1970 reach to 6000-6300 was possible , not so easy and not so difficult . she's in Blue with white stripes .

Yep, the SCCA really raked in a lot of cash for a lot of years from Pontiac for the Trans Am name. As for the claims of extremely high redlines on big block engines, well they are exaggerated. The stroke is too long, and thus the piston speed would be too high. Most big blocks of the era also were limited by the valve spring tension, and would experience valve float at rpm above 6500. If they used stronger valve springs though, it would cause excessive wear problems. Metallurgy has improved of course in more recent decades, and using modern metals one could make a better big block.

Some say the red line of this engine was 8000 rpm , but I think this was for RA V solid lifters and 525 gross hp , Maximum 7300-7500 rpm is right for RAIV . Amazing , near to Lamborghini's DOHC 4.0 Litre weberised at 69 and Trana Am RA IV was already faster than Islero S ( 260 KW,350 hp ) in that year .

Pontiac paid $5 license fee to SCCA for each Trans Am sold to use the name . The 69 Trans Am came std with RA III , the only engine option was the RA IV L-67 , that ordered on only 55 Trans Ams, came with Muncie M-21 CR and 3.90 std final ratio , 3.55 and 4.33 as optional .
These Figures came from 3.9 Final ratio and Muncie CR RAIV .
