I'm going to have to disagree with you Hector.

While the 98-2002 trans am didn't have the best handling in the world, it was actually decent for what it was.

I've driven a handful and even the stock ones aren't terrible as you describe.

They even offered a bilstein suspension.

Here's a sample review where they praise the handling:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/112_9709_1998_pontiac_trans_am/viewall.html

They actually say the 98 and 99 firebirds had a suspension that was too rough but had a "precise" ride.

.87 G's and a 65 mph slalom isn't bad for the 90's either...

Owned a 1987 Trans Am 5.0 & 1990's Ram Air T/A. The 80's were lemons and was always under going repairs. The 90's have bad handling. It feels dangerous to accelerate in the Trans Am because of the bouncy suspension - one side does something & the other does something different. It literally felt like a roller coaster ride; like all 4 wheels were trying to do something different at the same time and during hard accelerations the front acted as if it wanted to come up like a car with a trick suspension. The car is meant go straight.

Should we make a separate page for the WS6 ram air variant or change this page? It is considerably faster over the base trans-am

The car in the picture is a WS6 with functional ram air producing 325 horsepower. 0-60 for the WS6 is well under 5 seconds.

The yellow one with T-top in the picture was the final limited edition before the trans-am was cancelled. Darn shame because at the time it was one of the fastest cars around with a stupid cheap price for the performance level. At least it went out on top. I sort of wish I had left mine in factory condition and still had it today.. I miss the hell out of that car.

I wish!! I drive one of these, I wish they were 1:27.7 on the Top Gear Track!

Yeah i dont see this car doing that fast a time, maybe a 2nd or so slower than an M3 maybe.

I didn't submit that time for the top gear track but I think it is a very pluasable time. Honestly I think an LS1 T/A could do better
