It bears a strong resemblance to a Carrera GT.

No it's actually based on the Porsche Boxster. They just gave it a Carrera GT look. Saying this is based on the CGT (2003-06) is like saying the 9ff GT9 is based on the Porsche GT1 from the late 1990s.

a shame that no car magazine tested the CTR3 so far... :(

its only faster after the 1/4 mile, hence the 11.5 versus the 11.6!!

you're arguing over a car that will probs never go round the TGT so what ya blabbin' on about?

User avatar

venom  16y ago

you just used your own evidence against yourself.. the slr is much faster in a straight line, but the gt-r has slightly better handling. which one won by almost a dozen car lengths? also why do you even think this is faster than the apollo in a straight line? it has the same power and more weight!

UMmmmm yeah, you can make up the difference, especially on a power circuit. even JC himself said once that the GT-R wasnt gonna get past the SLR and other cars of that caliber, but what happened.. it blazed them by more than a second, so why cant this be as fast as the Gumpert? just cause its not a track car? this is a RUF. NOT a Dodge!! Mr Phantom, 1:16's sound very reasansble, good guess..

the enzo hit 308 kmh while the ccx maxed at 305. and 1:16s is far from reasonable, why do you think it will be faster in a straight line the apollo is just as fast there (if not faster) and you simply CANT make up for poor cornering. if this had 1000 bhp it wouldnt be able to make up for that... the tgt may be a power circuit but there is still so many corner complexes that even with double the straight you cant make up the difference...

since when did the enzo top out higher than the ccx on the ring?

User avatar

BumRush  16y ago

1:16's is a reasonable guess, Ruf's arent exactky slow in a straightline or round a corner, but they did use the 700bhp model when it did that lap. but i actualy think it will do the same 1:17.1. yes the gumpert does have the advantage in the corners no doubt, but this will make up for it in the long straights, so i would think they would do the same on the TGT. but on a track like The Ring they could be miles apart..

User avatar

lets start simple... the apollo that holds the record has the power and less weight. it also has tons more downforce and much better cornering. even with 50-100 more bhp it would still have lower peak speeds on the straights because of the huge advantage the apollo can get on the exit. for example the enzo can reach higher top speeds on the mile+ straight at nordschliefe than a ccx even with huge power and drag disadvantage because it can brake later and exit the corner earlier.

upper 1:16's is what I meant, this car is pretty good according to road and track. The Top Gear is somewhat a power track and this car has loads of power and is very light so it should be a track star.

User avatar

venom  16y ago

lol never 1:16!! more 1:19s-1:20s!it doesnt matter how much power it has if it cant get all of them to the ground easily.

User avatar

PhantomPorsche  16y ago

1:16 sounds reasonable.

User avatar

anonymous  16y ago

depends on handling but probably between 1.16 and 1.20.

User avatar

Anonymous  16y ago

what do yall think this could do on the top gear track??

User avatar

Anonymous  16y ago

Whaaaaaat:o? the rear is the best part!

User avatar

anonymous  16y ago

this car has great performance but the rear of it is enough to make you sick

User avatar

the rt12 ws tested at 7.35... i guess you wanna say that... and i also think the ctr3 could be 10 sec faster than the rt12. this would mean it's as fast as an enzo!

User avatar

Georg  17y ago

I am pretty sure this car runs somewhere between 7:20-7:30min ..the CTR3 is much lighter as the Ruf RT12 has much better weight balance and more power..the CTR3 was tested in a car magazine test with 7:35min... pretty sure that this car is able to run 5-10s faster
