WHich is a Damned Shame >:/ I know a good deal of people who were interested in buying one, Clients of mine, Vipers have a good following over here(Even though most cant afford one), Its a damned shame the Americans would say "No, You Cant Have One, Only We Can!" to us:( A Damned Shame, Im quite crossed about it.
Maybe in the future they will decide to make a bigger move outside there shorelines.
It may appear nonsensical to talk about MPGs at this level of performance, but like I said, that's becoming a big deal even in this arena. McLaren and Porsche have hybrid Hypercars on the way, Lamborghini has put cylinder deactivation in the Aventador, and even Koenigsegg is talking about improved fuel economy with the "free valve" engine technology they're development. And let's not forget all these concept sports cars with hybrid or all-electric powertrains that keep popping up. The Corvette Stingray concept from Transformers supposedly had a hybrid powertrain, pumping out a total of 700hp or so.
So even in this realm where performance is King, being "green" and fuel efficient is still a concern.
"However, what I'm saying is if MPGs are still so crap in this car, what's the point of the VVT and pseudo-overdrive 6th gear? That's just more weight added to the engine and a wasted gear."
Sheesh, that's ridiculous in such a car, but that sounds wise and innocent in comparison to 918/F150/P1 "ultra-modern, highly-technological perspectives" with hybrids... holy imps...
I can sorta understand in a Mustang, since..its a Mustang, a common blue collars workers car(EVen though GT500 is abit less) but still, If people are worried bout Mpgs, they shouldnt buy these cars, unless your an idiot who doesnt know what hes buying.
While it does seem kind of silly to talk about MPG figures with 600hp+ sports cars, it is a big deal nowadays. Even Ford was bragging about gas mileage in the GT500. But quite frankly, the only reason I'd like to see better MPG ratings is so I won't have to stop at a gas station every hour during a road trip, or refuel after every other lap during a track day. It's annoying and it starts to take a toll on the wallet after a while. But that's a price you should expect to pay for that level of performance.
However, what I'm saying is if MPGs are still so crap in this car, what's the point of the VVT and pseudo-overdrive 6th gear? That's just more weight added to the engine and a wasted gear.
Or any SuperCar even close to this caliber, Im all for technology improving in cars, but i could care less if the Mpg improves in cares like these.
This one should also be deleted since we already have it..
Last I heard, the SRT Viper had an EPA estimate of 13/18 city/highway, actually making it LESS fuel efficient than the old Viper. But if it's down to 10/15 now...damn. What's the point in the VVT and long-ass 6th gear, then?
I still wouldnt watch, but i bet it would be more fun.
It's been a very long time since Team Corvette and Team SRT have faced one another.
At 24 hours, Corvette, SRT, Flying Lizard, and Rizi will be fun to watch battle it out.
In ALMS, Team Corvette is the team to beat after last years overall victory in the ALMS series.
When you consider how good all the players are as well: Team Flying Lizard, Team PR1, BMW, Extreme Speed, etc. ALMS 2013 is going to be a very interesting year.
BTW, for anyone who's interested...
ALMS starts in 38 days with the 12 hours of Sebring. It's going to be great!
