Same case just like crazy Toyota limo that i rencently posted. I believe if they sold it in USA or Europe (under Lexus name maybe), people will be very satisfied and will scare AMG, M Sport and Quattro owner. Just imagine, where else we can find a 2 ton limo who can run 200 mph right from dealer?

@ BR2': I agree, it's a shame they won't sell the new Viper in Europe, it would increase sales, as much as I love Chrysler, I'll say they've screwed up not selling the SRT Viper in Europe, export sales are really good for business, and you Europeans would enjoy this masterpiece.

SRT, Or Chrysler says it has no plans whatsoever to sell the SRT Viper GTS in Europe. They say the reason is their concentration on solely the US market.

WHich is a Damned Shame >:/ I know a good deal of people who were interested in buying one, Clients of mine, Vipers have a good following over here(Even though most cant afford one), Its a damned shame the Americans would say "No, You Cant Have One, Only We Can!" to us:( A Damned Shame, Im quite crossed about it.

Maybe in the future they will decide to make a bigger move outside there shorelines.

I think we need to change the top speed for more realistically 206-208 mph. Source from motor trend and car and driver. And is this sold outside USA?

@BR2
It may appear nonsensical to talk about MPGs at this level of performance, but like I said, that's becoming a big deal even in this arena. McLaren and Porsche have hybrid Hypercars on the way, Lamborghini has put cylinder deactivation in the Aventador, and even Koenigsegg is talking about improved fuel economy with the "free valve" engine technology they're development. And let's not forget all these concept sports cars with hybrid or all-electric powertrains that keep popping up. The Corvette Stingray concept from Transformers supposedly had a hybrid powertrain, pumping out a total of 700hp or so.

So even in this realm where performance is King, being "green" and fuel efficient is still a concern.

@ CoolShirtGuy: You could be right about the Viper's fuel economy, but 13 MPG city and 18 MPG highway is a lot to expect from a 500+ cubic inch V10 with 640 horsepower.
3 months ago
MPGs... God... in the simple daily vehicle quite logical to bother with economy, but in supercars - hopeless and ridiculous... Maybe the only aspect CoolShirtGuy mentioned about refueling, but still I think I could survive.

"However, what I'm saying is if MPGs are still so crap in this car, what's the point of the VVT and pseudo-overdrive 6th gear? That's just more weight added to the engine and a wasted gear."

Sheesh, that's ridiculous in such a car, but that sounds wise and innocent in comparison to 918/F150/P1 "ultra-modern, highly-technological perspectives" with hybrids... holy imps...

I don't to much care about mpg of Viper but considering Viper has bigger fuel tank than LFA, it should be can reach a little bit longer mile than LFA before ran out fuel even it has lower mpg than LFA.
3 months ago
The gears in this Viper are shorter then the last, but still geared pretty tall, but maybe they had another alterior motive for it, could be a performance thing, or just marketing, but if you can afford cars like these, you really cant complain about gas mileage. It is a strong subject knowadays, usually as a showcase of advancements, but how many people ACTUALLY complain about the Mpgs there getting in these cars?

I can sorta understand in a Mustang, since..its a Mustang, a common blue collars workers car(EVen though GT500 is abit less) but still, If people are worried bout Mpgs, they shouldnt buy these cars, unless your an idiot who doesnt know what hes buying.

@BR2
While it does seem kind of silly to talk about MPG figures with 600hp+ sports cars, it is a big deal nowadays. Even Ford was bragging about gas mileage in the GT500. But quite frankly, the only reason I'd like to see better MPG ratings is so I won't have to stop at a gas station every hour during a road trip, or refuel after every other lap during a track day. It's annoying and it starts to take a toll on the wallet after a while. But that's a price you should expect to pay for that level of performance.

However, what I'm saying is if MPGs are still so crap in this car, what's the point of the VVT and pseudo-overdrive 6th gear? That's just more weight added to the engine and a wasted gear.

...Not sure why ANYBODY would complain, or even care about Mpg in a damned Viper, Seems pretty pointless to me.

Or any SuperCar even close to this caliber, Im all for technology improving in cars, but i could care less if the Mpg improves in cares like these.

This one should also be deleted since we already have it..

@Shaggy
Last I heard, the SRT Viper had an EPA estimate of 13/18 city/highway, actually making it LESS fuel efficient than the old Viper. But if it's down to 10/15 now...damn. What's the point in the VVT and long-ass 6th gear, then?
3 months ago
@ Super8: No, actually, the Lexus LFA gets 11 MPG city and 16 MPG highway, the SRT Viper, 10 MPG city and 15 MPG highway, but honestly, if you can afford cars like these, you won't be concerned too much with fuel economy.
3 months ago
I have a question. Is it true this new Viper has better fuel consumption than Lexus LFA?

It would be nice, if people got to actually chooses the cars and the kits and the designes they want to use for there car, would be better, Like someone in NasCar using a 911 or a Miata and designing the body kits and decals like flames and sparkles n shite, rather then them all looking the same n LOADED with nothing but sponsors..

I still wouldnt watch, but i bet it would be more fun.

BR2': At least in LeMans, the cars aren't all mechanically identical.
4 months ago
Same thing though, Only difference between the 2 races is, on goes in an oval, and the other turns right. To be honest, i dont know why people bitch about NasCar, every race series goes the same way around the track over n over n over, its all the same boring shite to me, doing it is one thing, watching is another.

@ BR2':It could be much worse, a NASCAR race bores me even before the green flag drops.

I cant watch Any Racing series, i get bored after 5 laps-_-....

I try to watch the 24 hours of LeMans every year, it's my favorite race, it's the Olympics of motorsports, My uncle and I both have friends who competed in the race, I actually went to high school with Lehman McGrath Keen, last year, he drove a Ferrari 458 Italia, he used to race in Porsches in high school, and drove a BMW on the road, he had an M3, one time it was in the shop and I needed a ride home from school, he gave me a lift in his 328i coupe rental, cool guy, we were car buddies, we spent half the time in technology class just talking about cars.

@ Apathy: I'll try not to miss it. That's the kind of racing I like to watch.

It will be interesting to see.

It's been a very long time since Team Corvette and Team SRT have faced one another.

At 24 hours, Corvette, SRT, Flying Lizard, and Rizi will be fun to watch battle it out.

In ALMS, Team Corvette is the team to beat after last years overall victory in the ALMS series.

When you consider how good all the players are as well: Team Flying Lizard, Team PR1, BMW, Extreme Speed, etc. ALMS 2013 is going to be a very interesting year.

BTW, for anyone who's interested...
ALMS starts in 38 days with the 12 hours of Sebring. It's going to be great!
