I test drove one of these in 1992 and was very disappointed, this engine needs the 16v head, the car feels like its subdued, you can feel the initial torque but there was no follow through. I've also read a lot that these weren't any quicker than the 16valvers. Gorgeous though.

They were definitely quicker than the 16V. My mate had a 16V and it was gutless compared to my G60 - a really disappointing drive. He sold it and bought a VR6 which was a lot quicker.

yeah, 8.3s to 100km/h would be nearer the truth, but i think corradoes accelerated in about 8.6s to 100km/h, because they were about 75 kilos heavier than golf II gti g60 (which truly went to 100 in 8.3s).

I own an 2009 scirocco 160hp.
Amazing the old corrado with similar power to the recent scirocco 1.4 accelerates as fast from 0-60 and is even faster in topspeed. LOl where is the progress?? For the old corrado is much lighter and lower.
