i have the 230 model and its wonderful.
Drove the R model last year and i couldn't se any big difference.
And the slip-diff is amazing, it corners the bends like a snake. just love it
have plans do take it around the Nurburgring this spring.

@ anoni
With 1-ft-rollout it is possible (it's about 6,2-6,3 seconds 0-100 kph without rollout).

Yes, only 1 shift until 100 kph.

it is possible 5.6 sec to 60mph ?
it seems to fast for a 220hp car and fwd.
it change gears only once to 60mph ?

Finally, a test of the basic-GTi DSG by New Zealand Autocar!

0-100 km/h: 6,4 s

550x800m

@ dede
Well, design is a matter of taste, wont argue about that. ESP is same, so equally good. Dont agree with acceleration though, R is noticably faster

User avatar

DeDe  12y ago

Better design (in and out), much forgiving ESP... and last but not least the performance: the GTi Performance is just as fast on the straightline.

@ dede
What for ?

This one, definitely.

@ Dede
Compared to the 2010 Golf R with 270 hp, what would be your choice? It is a bit more heavy and performance seems to be very similar however the press seems to prefer the R model.

220 PS at just 4500 rpm?? Amazing!

@ DeDe: I've always liked the Golf GTI, it looks like a fast, fun little car to drive, when someone mentions hot hatchback, the Volkswagen Golf GTI is the first car that pops into my mind.

This is the basic GTi-model with 220 ps.
