I love supercars and stuff, but the other day I had a go in one of these in comfort and R-line trim. It was the most comfy car i've ever sat in... by a long mile. huge space, reasonable price. I was like... Damn

Given the cars, How many people even use there opted equipment? Or even no about it? I think cars should have more standard stuff, and few options.

Passat B8 seems to be far better car than Passat B7. Practically in every aspect.

BMW F30 is a worse car than BMW E90 (especially E90 LCI). F30 is a bit more comfortable and has DCT as an option. But E90 has far better quality (general quality, exterior and interior, materials etc), drives better, feels better when we talk about sensations and driving excitement, has far better steering (when we talk about how we feel contact between surface and car) etc...BMW "3" has been always a special car in segment...

F30 is just a decent car in segment nowadays. It has pretty good versions when we talk about engines : 330d, 335d, 335i (not saying about M3 - its different thing) but those models are very expensive if we want decent equipment.

In my opinion the only one model in this segment that is better than the others is Mercedes C class.

In Poland there is very low tax for new cars under 2.0 litre engines. So there is a high jump in price between 2.0 engine and 2.1 for example. VW 2 litre diesels are in this low price group and its this local adventage.
In places like Poland there is many Skoda fans here, so they would chose new Skoda Superb instead of Passat.

I would love to see this 240 hp engine in some 4WD Golf R diesel.
I would be first VW attempt to make sporty diesel car. Those FWD GTD Golfs are bad mostly beceause of poor traction with high torque.

In Poland base price of that Passat (240 hp) is about 39k Euro. And it has pretty good equipment in that price (DSG, 4x4, DCC, led lights, pdc and many other more obvious things).

BMW F30 330d starts at about 50k Euro and...And that thing has NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING beside climatronic and dct.

Looks good granted, Both inside and out. But 45k for a Passat ill pass, But all depends on what your looking for and what you want or are willing to pay. And a 330D top starts at just about the same as this Passat.

I like that car. I have driven Passat B8 2,0 TDI 150 HP DSG recently. IMO its a great car. For that price it is possibly the best sedan of this size. In person it looks realy good. Much better than on photos ! Interior is also good. It looks good and it is made of pretty good materials.

And that car has very good equipments in this price.

For example for 45k Euro we can get this 240 hp Passat with great equipment (ofcourse base price is lower). I dont see any reason - paying 20 % more for example for BMW F30 320d 184 hp.

I just hate when i see the hilariously level of equipment of base BMW F30. F30 320d 184hp with decent equipment = at least 50k Euro. With good level of eq (level of 45k Euro Passat B8 240 hp) = about 55k-60k Euro. And we have only 184 hp.

When we talk about F30 330d 258 hp it would be about 70-75k Euro. Ofcourse its 3,0 R6 258 hp.

Imo BMW make better diesel engines.
This 2.0 is pretty good on paper, but it has some reliability issues in the past. VW newst engines are very responsive and very torquy but it affect the engine life.
However it doesnt matter in new generations.
Passat is cool all-around car. Good in many areas but is not master of any.

Its often buy when You want to have pretty good car but do not show everybody that you are so mucg rich. It isnt car for guys that buys Aventadors for show off.

I always liked the B5 and Type 32, Those were around every corner. This one looks good, But looks like every other VolksWagen. Good everyman car, Given the price isnt too much.

It's a Passat with a pair of big Diesel balls.

@Shintai what did you expect ? 240 hp/1700 kgs ? It has good acceleration figures. 0-100 km/h in mid 6s, 0-160 km/h in about 17-18s and 0-200 km/h in about 30-31s. These are normal figures for 240 hp/1700 kgs car with 4x4.

I had BMW E90 LCI 328i - 3,0R6 234 hp(one of the best engines in its class)/1600 kgs and it can do 0-100 km/h in 7s and 0-200 km/h in about 27-28s.

BMW F30 328i 2,0 turbo with so called 245hp can do 0-100 km/h in low/mid 6s and 0-200 km/h in about 25s but it has for real about 260-270 hp.

Golf VI GTI 210 hp/1450 kg can do 0-100 in mid/high 6s and 0-160 km/h in 16s.

I dont know what did you expect from 240 hp/1700 kg 4x4 car.

Its figures are great but especially after 100 kph, acceleration is not that good.
