The M4 GTS is an awesome car, but only won the comparison because of it’s superior straight line acceleration. The DCT and the electronics for the launch control are the difference. On the track those two are very close!

It does add weight, But the much faster and smoother shifts benefit it ALOT more then 45kg of weight, Hell just look at the Giulia QV Ring run which is 8 seconds faster then the manual, Same with Bmw and Porshce runs compared to the manuals, A Dct can make a huge difference.
And you seem to know nothing despite saying everything, Nobody here needs to be told that tyre width helps with traction, But the fact is, If you gave the GTS 315s instead of 285s, It would not make up 2 seconds lol Your telling me, The M4 which ran a 1:39.69 in normal form, And Bmw gave it new suspension, splitter, Underbody, rear diffuser, Wing, Other aero bits, Stripped out the interior, improved tranny with new gear ratios, bigger lighter brakes, 70bhp more power 40lbft more torque, Gripper tyres 265x285, And that ran 2 seconds faster...And yet 30mm rear tyres, And 40mm front tyres alone is gonna take away more then 2 seconds compared to what Bmw did? LOLOL
And weight reduction is weight reduction, More skilled lol And nobody aid bigger tyres wouldnt benefit it, The fact is it wouldnt benefit it enought to beat the GT350, You forget, Alot of cars nowadays have there car made WITH there tyres, And can even hurt the performance, Thats a proven fact that Motortrend even did with the Z/28 vs SS 1LE.
And you can say equal terms equal tyre width but it doesnt, Thats just going one way, Give them both the same tyre size, Then add a DCT on a GT350, And even then it still wouldnt be 100% equlity

So what if it's a manual? Adding DCT also adds weight, which is why it offers very little benefit to lap times in the hands of a professional.
"120lbs+ more weight"
Maybe BMW's engineers are more skilled at weight reduction.
"You could add the same tire size, But still wouldnt beat it"
You seem to know very little despite your 3000+ posts. A 40mm increase in tyre section offers a huge benefit in lateral grip. Are you seriously suggesting that adding such tyres to the M4 wouldn't benefit it? Maybe you should tell Ford that they didn't need to bother with 315s.
"And yet you give all this to the M4 yet give nothing to the R"
Give what? I'm saying the reason the GT350R can match the GTS is its tyre width.
"And literally everything you said could be applied to the R"
You've lost me. I'm only talking about tyre width. If you made the GT350R's tyres any wider they wouldn't fit.
"Then make it on equal terms if your gonna say that, Equality."
Equal terms would be equal tyre widths, not a 40mm difference. You fanboys can wax lyrical about how the GT350R is 'better' than the GTS, but the fact is, without those tyres, it would get beaten, badly.

Honestly, where I live, neither would be an option. There are way too many speed bumps. Which also bring me to the point of how stupid the GTS is. Charging a ridiculous price, being ridiculously uncomfortable and actually not really being that fast at all.
Many of the cars on the market that are more practical, cheaper, faster, more fun and more exciting, or grown up. BMW charges you double the price of an M4 removing all the things practical about the car all for just 2 seconds faster at Laguna Seca?

We all no that aspect of width, Yet it still wins with a manual tranny, 120lbs+ more weight, You could add the same tire size, But still wouldnt beat it, And yet you give all this to the M4 yet give nothing to the R? oh give the M4 wider tires, Yet why not give the R the Ms DCT?...And literally everything you said could be applied to the R, If your gonna give one car one thing, Then make it on equal terms if your gonna say that, Equality.

Maybe you ought to research the effects tyre width has on grip and handling. The 350R's tyres are 30mm wider at the rear and 40mm wider at the front than the GTS's. Given the very similar performance between the two, a hypothetical GTS with those tyres would almost certainly spank the 350R. As for price, BMW charge an insane amount for the GTS because they can, not because stripping out the interior, adding some aero and water injection somehow doubles the manufacturing cost. The fact that they're all sold suggests they got the price right. BMW probably couldn't care less how much the 350R sells for.
