Funny the Viper won with the Yank Pobst driving on US tracks. Still... the Viper, Corvette and Camaro are the biggest performance bargains today.

Thanks for the info phavyarden. A lot of people complain about the tires been 20. I finally see real proof that they are 200.
tharne 9y ago
Finally real proof! hey they are not that expensive. I thought they cost more. I love tirerack. That is where i get my tires from.

The treadwear on the Kumho Ecsta V720 ACR is 200, no 20.

You probably right about the acr. That would probably get me killed so i would probably prefer the gts over the acr in daily use.

I wonder if that is the difference between a professional driver and a good driver. That he doesn't brake in some corners........
tharne 9y ago
He also said "The process can be more violent than most people are used to," Winkler notes without the slightest bit of irony to his tone, "but with the wide Kumho virtual race slicks and all the aero grip available, it's typically the fastest way around." When it's my turn to drive the ACR, I simply cannot do what Winkler does. My brain won't let me. It cannot believe in the wing.
tharne 9y ago
I just wonder if the professional driver took advantage of the aero package. in the 2016 road & track performance car of the year one of the guys that drove the car said I'm not a nervous passenger, but when SRT's Chris Winkler shifts into fifth at the same place I normally hit the brakes and turns what I consider a 110-mph right-hander into a 135-mph no-brake right-hander by hucking the steering wheel of the Viper ACR as hard as he can and letting the massive rear wing sort out the stability, I have to work very hard not to vomit.

Look at my comment before. :P i was saying what someone said about this car. I'll repeat again there is no doubt in my mind this car was build with track in mind. Was that the only thing they focus on? no but is a track car in my opinion.
tharne 9y ago
To me the 918 gives you the best of both worlds for a price tag of 1 million dollars.
phavyarden 9y ago
Not the best track for the ACR considering the traction advantage that the 918 has.
918 did fantastic!!
Yeah, 918 might not have the looking of a track car, but it has nearly 900hp, rear wheel steering, a race engine, active aero, the fastest gearbox on earth, etc. So is not surprise actually :p
tharne 9y ago
Yeah they finally did it. That track though has a lot of straight line. Man the 918 did good considering is not a 'track car' O.o

For the most part, many people need to understand, Just because a car is built for the track, Certainly does not mean its still not a car, And a car is something you drive, There are LOADS of people who drive the old ACRs as there normal street cars, Same with Atoms, Hell i had an Atom 3 for a full month as my daily driver...In the UK..Hell the UK is filled with kit cars that ride like F1 cars, And people use those as daily drivers. Considering how low and wide the 918 is, Besides more noise insulation and suspension settings, I dont think its that much better, But the 918 was designed to have "More: comfort, But still be a track car. But for damn near 100%, Its what the person themselves wants, Not the car..

If I had a viper I'll drive it to work everyday.... why not? the only problem i can see is that i could get a ticket with that bad boy.
