@Man1,
please give references when making such bold statements, I think that even Ferrari engineers will read your words with scepticism. The
Ferrari 458 is faster, but there is no chance that it is better a tourer, and that is most likely the intention of the manufacturers even.

599\'s competitors are slr, aston martin v12.
458\'s competitors are sls, porsche 9** turbo and carrera, lamborghini lp560, aston martin db9.
in another class there are porsches gt2,3, rs, lambo superleggeras, viper acr...
currently no ferrari model belongs to that class, and even the discontinued scuderia arguably is not as extreme.
i am not sure what you mean with GT. usually it is referred to \"granturismo\" which is associated to sporty cars, confortable enough to endure long non-stop trips (e.g. 1000kms or so). the first set of cars and (arguably) the second qualify as granturismo, not the third.
there is no aspect that makes an sls a gt which doesn\'t make a 458 a gt. comfortwise the ferrari is superior, interior finishing is lush in both cases, 458\'s trunk is larger. the only two differences are engine position and performances (much superior in the 458). nowhere is it written that in a gt the engine has to be in front.

No, the 458 is Ferrari's only sportscar, the California, the Scaglietti and the Fiorano are their GTs.
The SLS is the same size as the SLR which competed with the Fiorano, but the SLS is about 100,000 cheaper than it so I'm not sure, I guess it competes with the R8 V10 and 911 Turbo as it has similar performance, even thought it stands in the middle between them and the 458 and MP4-12C price wise, and about performance, well, is on average 2 seconds per lap slower than the 458 so there's no contest.

f458 is a granturismo, too. infact, it has been reported to be more comfortable than the sls even in \"race\" manettino\'s setting. glad to see that german magazines are the only ones finding the two cars almost equally fast around a track. i wonder why...
