The Z06 may generate 512 PS from 7 liters, BUT its got loads of torque.

Ha, he referenced the badge on the hood as "evidence" saying which car is superior.

I also want to put what is hopefully the final nail in the "which engine is heavier and bigger" coffin really quick.

Here is a photo of a Ford small block V8 (which has nearly identical dimensions to the LS7) next to a 4.6l DOHC Ford Intec motor (out of an 01 cobra).

And before you even say that OHV push rod motors are old technology; you should know that OHC engines were designed before OHV motors. Yes, that's right, OHC is technically older technology.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying either engine design is superior to the other or vice-versa.

"7.0 litter and that is huge even for a american car muscle."

"...but to do soo they dont think they only add more displacement more engine more more weight..."

I'm going to have to stop you right there. The 7.0l LS7 in the corvette is lighter than the V10 in the Audi. How is that possible you might ask? Well, the LS7 is an OHV motor, which is far more compact than a DOHC design, and as a result the LS7 has smaller overall dimensions.

Before you say that isn't possible, consider this: Displacement doesn't necessarily dictate the exterior dimensions of an engine. Did you know that the 7.0L LS7 has the same overall dimensions as GM's 4.8l vortec V8? In fact, the LS7 has been bored and stroked out to 500ci, that's roughly 8.2 liters.

If you still don't believe me, search for the dry or fully dressed weight of an LS7. It's roughly 450lbs fully dressed. That's incredibly light.

The rest of your argument is full of wholes too. The Z06 makes less power than the V10 R8, but is still faster. It's also lighter, go figure.

You know what I think? I think you don't know what you are talking about, you really like the R8, and you can't handle the fact that it's slower than the Z06. Get over it.
How close am I? lol.

i dont really see why audi is weaker. audi as a v 10 powering the same horsepower that the vette, but listen the vette is a front engine v8 7.0 litter and that is huge even for a american car muscle. audi is 5.2 litter v10 and devellops the same power, and has no turbo or supercharger, and you still can enjoy the ride of the exclusiveness of a middle engine car. and have that audi badge at the front that is more than everything. still, the corvette is raccy but the audi is class. and that is what price says. in one hand the race prototype vette and the other the classic european superior in every way of estectics to design to enginering capabilities. audi is cleary 20 years ahead of corvette, that only puts more horses on their cars to destroy and ruin the european fastest cars, but to do soo they dont think they only add more displacement more engine more more weight...

Wet laps should be excluded by default IMO.

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

The option "Exclude wet laps" is missing...

How is the ZO6 faster on a Wet track (SportAuto Wet Handling Test), but slower on a dry track (Top Gear Track) than the R8 is in a Damp?

Who said this is supoused to rival the ZR1/GT2, the R8 V8 is comparable to the Corvette C6 Z51, they're even in hp, not in weight bu the AWD help it, now, the R8 V10 is comparable with the Z06 with again, nearly the same hp and even more disparity in weight haha, but still the AWD helped make things even.

There pretty much even, but the straightline of the Vette is a lil faster. I am (Kinda) surprised the V10 isnt much faster though, Which one would you take?

User avatar

Anonymous  16y ago

Now should the v10 powered R8 not kick the vettes ass, i mean they did not put a V10 in this for nothing did they?

User avatar

Wasnt this supposed to be a ZR1/GT2 Rival?
