genuinely expected the gtr to destroy the 911 on track, very impressive

In the real world the porsche turbo is so much faster in a straight line. TRACK TIMES ARE IRRELIVENT!

Then Porsche 998 911 Turbo Vs Nissan GT-R R36, in 20..whatever, not like either cars need to be any damned faster anyway.

Does it matter? the 997 Turbo was 2 years old by the time the GT-R came out, a year later the facelift apperared, they\'re even, and when Nissan makes their facelift fot the 2012 model year, Porsche will release the 998 Turbo.
This comparation is more fair than the one against the original 997 Turbo.

Amazing how porsche is much quicker in a straight line yet GTR better overall on the track.
I prefer the porsche but have to say the statement porsche \"noticeably faster\" overall (incl track times) is slightly insulting to the GTR. Both great cars!

as you all can see
Nissan GT-R is noticeably faster.
GT-R is before facelift while 911 is after facelift.
The new GT-R after facelift will crush that PDK turbo with ease.
Porsche was done.

well its not like the GTR is going anywhere far away while they are racing on a track....but the porsche really is going away from the GTR when racing in a straigth line...so yea...the porsche is noticeably faster :)

That 997 Turbo facelift is amazingly quick. Should be quicker on the track. GTR also impressive for a decent price .. shame it's so darn ugly! Don't get value for appearance- looks like a car priced
Marc 15y ago
Yea, put the slicks on Porsche, AND set-up track chamber/toe , and you will see, GTR lose for sure. Shit, GTR is still faster, can't believe that. Respect. And all that for half money.
Mr.Turbo 15y ago
why isnt the Porsche faster in tracks ? though it is faster in Acceleration and top speed
phavyarden 16y ago
Yeah, it's quickerat straight line, but i thought that it would be quicker at the track too, but it isn't.

You're only reading the summary based on their silly point system.
The GT-R won on all 3 tracks they've shared so far.
Saying the Turbo is 'noticably faster' is straight-line speed only.
