The 335i coupe is faster and more practical but the z4 feels like a sports car and is more special. I have the 2008 z4 and I think I would trade it for a 2011 335i or 335d with an euro5 engine.
On the Nurburgring the 335i did better, probably because of the long fairly straight lines.
