@tier318i: that\'s just the fanboy talking... the cts-v has much more torque and a bit more power. A csl or the GTS have NOTHING to do with a roomy big saloon, like the M5 or the CTS-V. They are both stripped out medium/small sedans and the CSL did the time on semi-slick sporttyres and the GTS has a racecar-like spoilerset, no back seat, a rollcage.

The time for the CTS-V was set by the head of testing/chassissetup John Heiricy, but with an automatic in D (not even sport-mode).

Maybe the next M5 will give you something to shout about, if BMW M gets off their lazy ass and makes something as special as this one... it might. Looking at the recent products comming out of BMW M it might very well be another disappointing effort.

its bs, the M5 test results were from 2005, the CTS is from 2008. Plus the M3 CSL did it in 7:48 IN 2003! and the new M3 did it in 7:48 in 2010

Believe it there are plenty of videos on Youtube to prove it. The CTS-V with the LS9 ZR1 engine beats the M5 all day going straight or in turns.

8:13 is serious but car was driven by Horst von Saurma (from SportAuto) who is known from not being fastest driver. In general and contrary to some of car makers (such as Audi or Cadillac), BMW has never given time that their test drivers achieve on Nurburgring which I suppose are better than Horts' acheivements.

cts-v is nothing in front of the
ALMIGHTY M5.I don't believe the Nordschleife result is serious.
