Quattroruote's listed top speed of 327kph was actually a tailwind speed, and AMuS's 321kph was actually a headwind speed —> average = 324kph, right on par with Ferrari's claim.

The 959 had factory upgrade options that allowed it to reach UP TO 339, or 344kph without the catalytic converters. Basically, that is as fast as the Jaguar XJ220 and Bugatti EB110 GT.

The European-spec F40 and the 959 both are able to reach 97kph in first gear, which is 60mph. That explains the seemingly quick times.

100kph in 3.6 for the 959 vs 3.9 for the F40 in European mag testing

= 3.1 to 60mph for 959 and 3.4 to 60mph for F40 in American mag testing with rollout

Ferraris are great at catching fire

Keep in mind those acceleration stats are probably from Ferrari, meaning that the 0-200 kph time is probably off by 2 sec.

In those days Ferraris lapped everywhere and Porsche was reclusive.
