I always did like the TT. But when it first came out it had worse than horrible fuel milage. It was only getting like 14 miles a gallon out of a little 4 cylinder engine! Even the big American V-8's at that time were getting at least 19 m.p.g. Did Audi fix that? Anyone.
I drive a 2001 TT 8N quattro since 2001 with 272hp currently... I don´t know were you get your silly numbers from but rolling at highway speed even with wider tires than stock and much more power than stock my TT has no problems to get 30mpg or better ... during the 1999 sportauto supertest the TT quattro was rated 17mpg including hard acceleration tests, northloop and Hockenheim shorttrack time attack runs... under the same conditons a regular US V8 like the one in the Z06 drops under 10mpg a WRX STI to 14.5mpg... and a Evo to 13.9mpg..
