Dropping the 0-60 time below 4 seconds seems to involve losing usable fuel economy. The Golf R could match the RS3 if it sacrificed the extra 5 mpg. There are progressively fewer true hot hatches these days. The RS3, Focus RS, Merc AMG are Mega hatches. The Honda Type R, Seat Cupra, and Renault Megane RS are the true hot hatches in that they approach affordable and sensible motoring, AND produce miracle 'Ring times!

0-60 matters little but these hatches are acceleratin 60-120 mph several seconds faster than their official test results to get these Ring times. Their lateral acceleration has been tweaked by .03-.05 g as well. When you look at older supercars at 7:50-8:05 with vastly quicker acceleration , at least slightly better braking and still pulling over .95 g you realize the hatches at the Green Hell are cornering and accelerating better than their test results.
