not only tracks get improved...
The Enzo did run on 2002 tires technology the 458 on 2010 tires technology.
sportauto did some years ago a test with a Subaru WRX STI there they compared the different between the old factory fitted Bridgstone tires with the new generation of factory fitted Bridgstone tires, at the northloop this single different made a 8s time improvment with the new tires on the same car.

@Mike B: no, the reason is because the circuit underwent a consistent retarmacing/paving just after the 2005 test. the difference is reputed to be up to 2 seconds in favor of the upgraded version.
vairano is quite obsolete in my opinion nowadays since is not long neither complete enough to test the strenghts of cars like enzo nor 458. much better tracks are available everywhere in italy, including the new 7kms long handling circuit in nardo. i don\'t know why neither quattroruote, nor any other italian magazine uses that track for their tests.
