Thunderhill Park East on the same tires (Hoosier R7):
GT2 RS - 1:49.4
Viper ACR Extreme - 1:48.5

The ACR is still very close to the gt2rs on the track, even though it doesn't have cup2R tyres and despite the difference in acceleration... It's pretty remarkable. Then again it's as extreme as it gets, so its performances are not that surprising. The gt2rs is great, both on track and on a straight line.

It seems to me that Viper may even be somewhat faster in corners due to wider tires and greater downforce. However, on the straights, it is much slower than the GT2 RS, so it loses on all tracks as a result.
It seems to me that the ACR is more comparable to the Manthey Racing edition, which also has an almost racing car aerodynamics.

Everyone should know that the Viper ACR was never built as a straight-line kind of car, as it's actually slower than even the standard model in that case scenario. However, the ACR still did not beat the GT2 RS on any tracks. Maybe if the ACR had a dual-clutch instead of a manual...

  • power difference.
    GT2 RS in some tests makes "only" 605WHP (*1,15=696HP aka claimed 700HP) but also 630 or 683WHP (725 - 785HP).

ACR need + 100-150HP for that amount of downforce.

It is curious if anyone has information about the comparison of the tires which are used on these cars: Kumho Ecsta V720 and Michelin PS Cup 2r.
Both looks kinda close to race slicks:

As much as I love the ACR, the new GT2 RS is just in a different league. I'd still pick the Viper cause no modern Porsche could give you a similar driving feeling.

Can I know the source these tests please?

The Kumho Ecsta V720S would be close to the Cup2 however not in the same league as the Cup2R which has superior grip...

Thanks for your opinion, I also think so.
I looked at some forums: they write that Ecsta V720 is roughly similar to Pirelli Trofeo R in performance. So ACR on Cup 2R could cut approximately 1-2% from it's laptimes.

Yep to the best of my knowledge Cup2R's are the numero uno semi-slick on the planet. I would like to see a comparison between them and the Bridgestone's that Lambo has gone with for the STO to see whether they buggered up...
