Porsche Panamera Turbo vs BMW M5

In my opinion the Panamera Turbo and the S version are not so good as the M5.The M5 has a history a very long one.And cmon a Turbo S which is more expensive than the M5?
I'll take the M5 anyday , the panamera is ugly.

Why You want to compare Turbo S to M5, wehn Panamera Diesel is the colosest to it's price from all panameras.

People compare a Nissan GT-R to 911 Turbo/Turbo S and R8 V10
People compare Z06/ZR1 to European sportscars/exotics
People compare CTS-V to M5, E63, etc.

They compare based on performance, not price. The less expensive car that car run with the expensive cars may be a better performer per dollar or Euro, but it doesn't make it the better performer. Sometimes, the less expensive car IS the better performer (that's a bonus) but if people are keeping cars stock production cars (like on Fastestlaps) all that matters is which is the better/best performer. Price is not a factor in the "compare" feature on this site. If it was, the CTS-V would beat the Panamera Turbo, the M5, and the E63....even though the CTS-V is probably the slowest of the 4 except for top speed.

Oh, maybe BMW will create a Super M5 "power pack" and will sell them for 200k euros, then yes, you can compare it to P. turbo S.

That would be fine if BMW did that. I'd love that and if that car is on top, great. It would be a stock production car. The cost wouldn't matter.

Porsche charges what they do because....they can!. They have no problem selling the Turbo S or any of the Panamera models. If you owned a car company and people were on a waiting list for a $200,000 car, would you sell it for $100,000? No way.

this reminds me of that e60 m5 csl bimmer never put into production that killed on the nord. they really should do something like that with the f10 and sell it.

the price diff is way way too big, panamera shouldve been much faster (considering the fact they both are premium badge cars). this way its just a rip off.

And, yes, you can spend about 50.000 euros for options in each panamera.

Panamera S 117,035 euro

These are declared base prices by companies.

For Sure Panamera Turbo S is faster than M5, but hell, its twice the price.
For similar money You can take Panamera S or Panamera Diesel: 98,031 euro.

So Diesel is even closer to M5 price ;)
And for sure, it is faster on track and on stright line.

Well if You spend the rest of 100.000 euro for tunning your M power, it would be faster for sure.

We are going by "stock vs stock". If you throw 100,000 at almost ANYTHING, you can beat a Turbo S in a straight line. It means nothing. If you take a 535i and throw money at it, it will beat an M5. Does anyone care? No.

the sportauto tested M5 able to do the 1:12.9min costs 120,330Euro

Panamera Turbo 139,000Euro
Panamera Turbo faktory kit 156,000Euro
Turbo S 169,000Euro

The sportauto tested M5 was only able to do one quick lap after that the tires get to hot and the car suddenly change its character from quick laptime mild understeer in time wasting hard to controll oversteer... the M5 brakes started fading heavly after three quick laps at Hockenheim...with a anoying squeaking noise in cold and hot conditions..
you need all the money to improve M5 stamina to get it to Panamera Turbo or Turbo S level or you end up with a one lap wonder ..

well yeah, but if we think about it a bit we can conclude that even though panamera is faster in the straight line and awd bimmer manages to beat it on the tracks. so, the bimmer is noticeably better car here.
