@saxy Both the GT and ZR1 orginally came with PS2 tires except ZR1's were run flats. The ZR1's Ring time on the PS2's (7:26) is faster than the GT's. Also the orginal (PS2) Hockenhiem time was 1:09.7 which was on an '09 before they added the PTM in '10.
While I agree the new cup tires help with cornering and braking, they really do little to improve off the line, as I have run both on my ZR1. They need some heat in them get sticky. All the best stock acceleration time are still from cars on the PS2s.

The ZR1 used to be so much slower with its original tires. The cup tires made it so much faster off the line, in the bends and in the braking zones.
Well, if you put on the same tires on the Carrera GT, guess what? That's why old cars were so much slower off the line, like the Mclaren F1, etc.
However, comparing an old car with a new is really pointless. Extreme example is a Honda accord would smoke a Aston Db5. A realtively cheap hatchback will smoke Ferraris from the 80s

The Vette did do 0-60 in 3.3 you retard. Not every test on every car gets the same results. You can't just pick the one that got 3.7 because it is slower and you like the Carrera GT. You pick the fastest recorded for a legit source for both cars and compare.

But when a tuner like Underground Racing sets all kinds of records with its twin turbo Lambo, it that strething the power curve a little to much, i mean any tuner can go nuts.

Yeah, some people don't seem to grasp the fact that any car can be built to outrun any other car, (some more easily than others) and although I think some of the cars on here I personally feel might stretch the factory production street car definition a little, I can also see that it is very hard to say this is the line, or that is the line.

Bumrust hates tuners like Lingenfelter or Hennessey so do not mention that name again.
nitrostreet 16y ago
Better tell that to Lingenfelter
http://www.lingenfelter.com/engine-packages/corvette-1990-2010/c6-z06-ls7-2006-2010
He's got 7.0 liter supercharged or turbocharged engine packages up to 800 HP, and can build 1100+ HP(rear wheel) packages, too, on a custom basis.
You can have them build your Vette, or buy the parts and do it yourself.
Lingenfelters been building tuner Vettes for 30 years.

Ummm...@ the anonymous 2 posts before me.
The cylinder walls on the Z06 are too thin to withstand boost, which is why they took the 6.2 out of the base model and put it in the ZR1. So you can't really "slap one on" the Z06. After you had custom internals made, installed the suprcharger, got the car tuned, and paid labor hours, it would have been MUCH more cheaper to buy a ZR1.

Porsche had better engineers when they made the 959, which is still better than the Carrera GT. Funny thing is anyone can supercharge a Vette and a supercherged Z06 would be even faster than the ZR1 for less money! Gotta love 355 tires on the street;)
Anonymous 16y ago
Porsche is just getting stomped by everyone, the marketing staff really needs to stop messing with the engineers, because the engineers at Porsche are not the same people that produced the 959.

Just to let you know, its 0-100kmh, which is 0-62mph. the Carrera GT has ben tested to 0-60mph in 3.5 your right, but your wrong about the Vette's 0-60mph, lol its not no 3.7, its ben tested by Road&Track to hit 0-60mph in 3.2 and by Evo mag 3.4 to 100kmh, and your right about everything else, but infact the Carrera GT is slower.

DUDE WHERE DID THIS GUY GET HIS SPECS FROM. THE CARRERA DID WAS SAID TO DO 0-60 IN 3.9 BUT WAS TESTD IN 3.5 AND VETTE WAS SAID TO DO IT IN 3.3 BUT DID IT IN 3.7 AND TOP HE GOT THE 0-100 RITE FOR THECARRERA BUT NOT THE VETTE CAUS IT DID IT IN 7.1 AND THE TOP SPEED FOR THE CARRERA IS RONG TO. CAUS IT WAS DID IT IN 208 AND THE FASTEST EVER RECORDED TOP SPEED FOR IT WAS 216 U CAN LOOK THAT UP AT I THINK IT WAS I DONT MEMBER BUT JUST LIKE TYPE IN TOP SPEED FOR CARRERA GT AND THEN JUST LOOK FOR SITES OR WAT EVER. AND U SHOULD FIND IT. MY OPINION. THE CARRERA IS A NICER AND IN FACT FASTER CAR. AND IT DOESNT HAV AS MUCH POWER AND PROB WEIGHS MORE CONSIDERING ITS NOT A V-8 WITH A SUPER CHARGER.

my mind is telling me that they are ABOUT the same in everything but looks.the porshe is cooler
