See straight away I've noticed (and everyone else could) that there's a TWO second gap at 300km/h when compared to each other 18.6 vs 20.6 but at the 1000m marker the time difference is 0.4 seconds difference although I accept the trap speed is higher for the Mclaren. It should be with the power differences.

And all this started because of a cross reference of Ferrari standing 1 mile speeds on Ferrari Chat! LOL!

Track work it looks like the Pista dominates on the evidence above.

Why everyone is saying "you can get two 720s from the price of the Pista", or "the Pista is much more expensive than the 720S", while the average price according to fastestlaps.com is almost the same.

Well the truth is out there and the 720S has at least 780hp and this dyno test puts any debate to rest. McLaren is full of shit, fact!

Its probably worth pointing out that there's a track package for the 720s which lets it retake those lap times from the Pista.

Also they're completely different cars, that we even have to compare them speaks to just how good McLaren are.

Cant wait for #750lt

I still have a hard time trusting track results from Mclarens, they always seem to undershoot, staying out of the pissing match.

Really though, its amazing that these cars are even being compared. The Pista is a lightened, hardcore track car, the 720 a sane docile road car. If the 720s can beat the Pista, can't wait for the 750lt

Imagine what the Ferrari could do if it was on a carbon fiber structure, instead of aluminum. If Ferrari could make an aluminum car structure weigh less than a carbon fiber one, how light would a carbon fiber based Pista be?

Lets get one thing clear here, the 720s is on completely new platform (chassis mono 2) so it is actually a generation ahead of the 488 which is still based on the 458 chassis from 2009.
Check the crash test certificates still show a 458 on all 488 models.

McLaren cheated the system by bringing out the 650s soon after the MP4 so they're always a development generation ahead to give themselves 'performance advantages' the replacement 488 will be the real competitor to the 720s as that will be on a new platform too.
The 488 Pista mighty performance on a 10-year-old chassis is a little reminder to everyone Ferrari is still 'The Daddy'

The 488 Pista is way faster in a track for what it was made to do! It's not a drag car is a track toy

Ferrari is clawing back difference with superior track skills. Volare!
