The steady state cornering capacity of the Camaro ZL1 1LE is 1.18g on the skidpad versus the non-1LEs 1.07g, this is a function of tires. The Camaro ZL1 1LE has 100 treadwear streetable track and competition tires: Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires. These are equal to Pirelli Trofeo R tires in testing by Grassroots Motorsports magazine, both get an AA rating for time trial pace.

The Camaro ZL1 1LE has magic tires, they are the source of most of the improvement in lap times. I want those tires, but in more modest Corvette C6 sizes. I am amazed at GM for selling the Camaro ZL1 1LE with those 100 treadwear tires, but that is only fair since some supercars are equipped with 60 treadwear tires. My current tires are 320 treadwear, too long wearing for my tastes. Still, they are a major improvement over the original equipment Goodyear run-flat tires.

I have not been able to make sense of the fuel economy stats on this site. There should be no difference in fuel economy between a regular ZL1 and one with the 1LE suspension/handling package.

That's why I prefer the regular ZL1. The 1LE is not all that necessary unless you're planning to visit a road course on a weekly or monthly basis. Kinda pointless TBH... I'd swap a set of ZL1 1LE wheels and tires onto the regular ZL1 and call it a day! Besides, the difference between a ZL1 and a ZL1 1LE is much closer to the difference between an M5 Competition and an M5 CS than to the difference between a Viper SRT and a Viper ACR.
There is literally no advantage as far as straight-line performance figures are concerned when it comes to the ZL1 1LE model. Actually the top speed is around 305kph for the manual ZL1 1LE versus 330kph for the manual ZL1; the difference between automatic versions is even bigger (285 vs 345). The automatic ZL1 has even better overdrive gear ratios than the manual ZL1. But the ZL1 1LE wheels and tires will make the ZL1 an even better overall track car for both the dragstrip and the road course.
