So the old GT3 RS did a 7:20 and the new GT3 with less power is somehow supposed to do 6:59? Never believe Porsche's claims after 2017, kids.

It's not Porsche claiming it, it's verified by the Nurburgring officials.

a 500hp beetle runs a 7:20 which is indeed f-a-k-e!!! and 610hp huracan ran a 7:28...smells bully

then lamborghini answers back with 640hp and a last minute spoiler designed off the sv with a 6:52 destroying the widebody 918 boxster, gt3 rs, aventador sv and every production car ever tested at the ring.

It's only two seconds faster than an old Z06 with Z07 Package, so ...

7:32 with a limiter, if I'm not mistaken

Quote from top gear, this time was set by a factory driver on his third lap while on a partially wet track (not damp, but wet). So the actually speed of the car is faster. Lovely

...That would take some time..

I agree that factory times should be labeled as such (FC, for ex) and magazine times should be labeled as such but there are plenty of factory claims on the site.

It's a factory claim that the car is 100% stock. Since none of us are there to confirm that the car is 100% stock/legal, we all have to take the manufacturer's word for it.

Lap-times aren't "life or death" so people shouldn't cling to them as if they are the only important thing. I think of them as a piece of the whole picture, not the whole picture.

When there are multiple tests, there will be varying results. Look at the C7 Z06, for example. A great VIR time (Jim Mero) but a lackluster Willow Springs time (Randy Pobst). Different cars, different days, different drivers, different conditions, different tracks, different factory support, etc. Neither time tells the whole story. There is always info that goes with the story.

Is there an independent test for this time?
Unless tested by a third-party, manufacturer claims need to be vetted.
