So did that update to the ABS and TC come or not?

Update to ABS and TCS coming, which will be rolled out to all 375 cars at service intervals. At present ABS and TCS is only calibrated for PZCS tyres, so when the driver brakes too hard, it defaults to Corsa System maximum braking torque, which is inferior to braking available with Cup 2. Same deal with TCS. Update will add tyre select function.

Really?
Tell me my old chap, Mclaren buddies are the doing something to fix the Trofeo R to the Rims ?

I wonder if the 918 won fair and square, instead of finding a litany of excuses why the P1 lost...

I quoted for Macca forum.

Retest coming in June/July!

I think it's awesome that a P1 owner loaned their car to MT and let Randy race it around Laguna Seca.
Not only that, but McLaren showed up to help out.
...If it were a LaFerrari owner, Ferrari would have flipped, and probably black-listed the owner, and refuse to ever service his car.

....I think that conversation belongs on the Ferrari page...

It's a production car, doesn't matter if it's a customer car or not. A production car can NOT have its suspension, engine, or anything modified. And in no way has Porsche gone to the laguna seca to do a few days of testing themselves and set up the car differently. They brought a car over just like any other car.

And Porsche has sold out all 918s, so technically that IS a customer's car.

The P1 owner is the behind this whole test.He did ask of a customer 918 not a model from Porsche. The actually test was suppose to include many laps from each car. It is why he brought 2 sets of tires. Porsche came for limited laps not him.Again the owner not Mclaren was behind all these pressures changes. It actually worked. Randy did 15 consecutive laps on 1 set of tires.
The same 918 that lapped 1:30 is the same car updated 918 in this recent test.
I have no issues with the results.Only wish to set the record strait on all involved.

no, no. The Porsche didn't win in the corners. It simply eked a slight advantage to compensate for the later lack of top end speed. Here it's pretty much even. The largest chunks of time and speed advantage are in the braking zones, as in that "speed advantage" graph. Laguna seca is full of hard braking zones and for much of the time, the Porsche would be 5mph faster at every point in the brake zone.

It took MT to find out of this ABS issue. Almost a yr has went by and nobody said anything. This is why you have a 3rd party test the cars.
P1 is far from done like 918.
The track battle was won in the corners. P1 dominated the straits like it should.A touch more work is needed to finish this car.
I mean no diff with RWD, what do most expect with this much power in corners.

"The McLaren people change tire pressures. An engineer says the Pirellis take four or five adjustments before they settle. The P1 goes out for more laps and comes in for more adjustments. On goes another set of Trofeo Rs. More laps. More pressure changes. The best the P1 does is a 1:30.71."

1, Pobst got a lot of laps.
2, they did every thing they can to get more out of the P1, knowing well the exact time they need to beat the Porsche.

Braking performance was less than great because of an old ABS system. Another point, someone forgot to mention when talking about how the Porsche's tires MUST be better. Sometimes it's the car.

The P1 gave it everything, best tires, best conditions, best tire pressures. I wouldn't say the P1 isn't a good car. But I will say, wow, good job Porsche.
