Hybrid is the future. electric power to wheels, small generator.

Full electric cars like SLS and Tesla don't really work. The SLS, if you drive it like a super car, it'll run out of juice so fast. The Tesla is for execs. An Exec doesn't wait for his car, the car waits for him. If he has to worry about when he can charge it or not to get to all the places he/she needs to, it'll be useless.

Actually... I don't to much like hybrid car. But I do like the look of Citroen Survolt that BR2+ has posted.

User avatar

Mental  11y ago

...G-Wiz looks better...

But to be serious, I think that hybrids and e-mobils are just too unadvanced yet, with lots of issues and huge price lists.
So thankfully, they need another 30 years to have a significant influence on customers. :)

Anyway, I think there are only 3 full-electric production cars that deserve my attention: SLS E-Drive, Tesla Model S, Audi A3 e-tron.

And hybrids go that order:

918 Spyder
P1
LaFerrari
i8
XL1
Panamera S-Hybrid
... others don't deserve attention.

Seems we have different opinions about that theme...

What?

GTR, F430, Turbo,...

"What do you think looks better?"

You mean an electric car?

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

What do you think looks better?

User avatar

Fangio Man  11y ago

@BR2
May I am high, too, but I am not really a fan of that Citroen's optic. May the fact that I am not a fan of Citroen also is decisive for me.

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

Youll pass? Are you perhaps high sir? Or on any form of illegal drugs?..

And everything looks better then an I3....Well, maybe that Nissan Leaf doesn't..

User avatar

Fangio Man  11y ago

That Citroen looks too futuristic to me. I'll pass.

Looks better than i3, though...

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

THIS...Is how an Electric car SHOULD look, My GOD!! I may actually take this over a C6 ZO6..."May" Build it and I wil buy it..(If its within my budget..-_-) The things I would do for that car..

4th is the VolksWagen XL1, It looks like something straight from BackToTheFuture..But ALOT better then a lot of the E cars, Its €50,000 though, And at that price, Id rather have an A45 AMG...

550x800m

Then you have the Bmw I3...Well..It could be worse, There are Uglier cars, But they are cheaper with more room. but still.

But...I don't think Theresa single electric car uglier then this one....I think...(Prolly best to look with one eye)..

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

I actually rather curious about a Bmw i3M....

But I don't see this thing selling that well, Atleast not to your average consumer, I Cant really say about the size from pics, but it doesn't look like it has much room, dunno though. But IMO I think it should be cheaper.

But, If electric or whatever is your thing,(Regarding price) there these to choose from)

Hands down the best E car every, Those looks alone are worth the $63,570 Starting price. At least Tesla combines efficiency AND Incredible looks(Theres NO excuse on making a car ugly regardless of price)

550x800m

2nd Best would have to be the Bmw I8, It looks okay in general, But as an E car it looks fantastic, Atleast on this car they made it look great, Specially the interior which is fantastic. Albeit 100k, In general id rather have a GT3..

550x800m

The 3rd best IMO, The Cadillac ELR, Looks fantastic, The Interior is INCREDIBLE, Only problem is, its $75,000 Usd...Which I think is WAY too high..Id rather get a CTS VSport Fully built..

Who in the right mind would pay that much money for a vehicle that make your life uncomfortable??? It's a rip-off for a car that has a comparably low mileage, charges for hours and is so awful to look at!... BMW could at least do us a favour and design it properly...

Hopefully, in my country electric power stations are undeveloped, so I won't have an opportunity to see this fruit of narcomany.

And that is the "European Car of the Year".. My God, it's a shame i3 carries a BMW badge... I hope BMW would not expand the i-range... Maybe with an exception of ///Mi8, or i8///M.

If I ever was looking for an electric car, the only I could consider would be Tesla Model S.. and Benz SLS E-Drive, but it's absurdly expensive.

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

Those Tesla Model Ss look AMAZING Upclose, I saw one at a show a few months back, They really are amazing. Those nice big fitted rims, And that stance, The cars are EXTREMELY low, Those curvy fenders. That is how THIS type of car, Electric/Hybrid should look...Not like this. And the Model S is "Somewhat" nicely priced(Atleast for what you get) Good looks, Fast in acceleration and around a bend, Interior is awesome.

The interior on the I3 is nice, no where near Model S though, And I do like the front, But that's basically it.

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

@ BR2+: I totally agree with you.

User avatar

Viking  11y ago

I see lots and lots of Tesla Model S running around Northern California, but they at least look good. I can't say the same about this BMW.

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

Yeah, I built one fully done on the UK and US website. Starts at $41,350 and ends at $56,025 for you US Buyers. So whatever country your in, (Especially the UK) its not gonna be cheap, £45,005 fully built here, And that's even more ludicrous. These electric hybrid type cars certainly are not cheap Teres always the VolksWagen XL1 option, But that's €50,000(Starting Price)..Or the Chevrolet Volt fully built at $38,735(Quite a bit less)

I like how they want every one to get cars like this, The common people, that are better for the environment and make your life easier while spending less money on the car or on fuel or whatever, Yet they make the car not affordable for the average consumer.

Its just like the food that's healthier for you, yet 10x more expensive.

Honestly, I could get a 2nd hand CSL for a lot les then this, But that's not really comparable.

User avatar

Shaggy  11y ago

@ BR2+: $57,025.00?! BMW would have to pay me that much to take one off their hands.

User avatar

BR2+  11y ago

...This thing is £45,005, And $57,025 Fully built...They have GOT to be kidding...

User avatar

Fangio Man  12y ago

Wow, LOL, look at the submitter!

User avatar

Shaggy  12y ago

@ CoolShirtGuy: I agree with you, at least I hope it will be a sales flop, I mean you can expect a company like Tesla to pull something like that, but we've come to expect a lot more than that from BMW, how can this car be the ultimate driving machine if you either can't hear the engine, or it sounds like an R/C car, like it should have a huge wire/antenna sticking out of its roof?

User avatar

CoolShirtGuy  12y ago

Methinks this will be a massive flop if/when it goes into production, and BMW will have to go back to the drawing board for the design. Tesla proved to the world that an EV can be drop-dead sexy and has raised the bar on every level. Even cars out of its market segment and price range, like the i3, have to step it up. There's no excuse for this thing to look like BMW's take on the Pontiac Aztek. I'm not expecting a homerun like the Model S, but at least don't make it so glaringly obvious that this is the redheaded stepchild of the brand(no offense to redheads).
