It might not in there case, Usually they dont care ANYwhere near as much about then unlike Germans, Will the next ones be a smaller displacement? Most likely, But as far as a V8 goes, There arent too many people who want a 3.0L V8 Camaro, Thats not what there about, And i believe Chevrolet knows this. And im sure they did hold back on there bhp numbers, Not too many companys put 'Everything, There all in a car.

It's just that it usually cost more to make an engine with higher bhp/liter N/A. Or simply is that Chevy purposely leave a lot of power off the table for their base corvette engine.

I find it weird that the 6.2L has 460hp while this 3.6 has 335hp. The lower cost model has much higher hp per litre

New engine, more advanced, more revs = more peak power. Btw, BMW E46 M3 had this sort of power to displacement ratio ages ago... Not that power to displacement ratio means anything...
