I did not know that, thanks!

But I could had know it...

I always thought that the HHR was Chevrolet's answer to the Chrysler PT Cruiser, in other words, an answer to a car that should never have gone into production.

User avatar

Flabernat  12y ago

Basically a CobaltSS Turbo, just heavier and holds more stuff. Pretty impressive lap time :)

User avatar

@Fangio Man
Same guy, Bryan Nesbitt designed both cars.

User avatar

Anyone else see the similarity to the Chrysler PT Cruiser?

You people who are mad that a stationwagon can whip your Honda S- who gives a shite 2000 amuse me. If your Honda is fast then whoopie for you. It was not meant literally. He was giving you a benchmark in referencing the Damn Honda to begin with morons. But since you can't understand plain English he went ahead and had fun with you. Truth be told Veyron can kill em all but who cares!!

I have a 2008 HHR SS ,bought new and LOVE IT !!!
I had a 06 SSR 400 h.p. prior and my HHR is more fun !!!

I've owned the hhr ss now for two years, I got the gm stage 1 kit installed. the car is alot of fun to drive, definitely has got the get up and go. The 5 speed no-lift shift feature and launch mode is too much fun. For the price you can't beat it. Lot of bang for the buck.

@common sense "it would eat an s2000's lunch on the nurburgring" lol yeah by the looks of this car it looks like it ate it's breakfast and dinner as well :P

Common Sense

An HHR SS even with 300 HP wouldn't even come close to an S2000 on the Ring....don't be silly.

User avatar

@common sense I really like S2000s. Balanced handling, tidy size, nice top down ambiance, revvy engine. Very fun to drive car with excellent reliability and durability. I would have purchased one, but my girlfriend thought that it wouldn't have enough crash protection if some idiot in an SUV ran into me. I personally wouldn't have looked twice at an HHR SS. A front wheel drive truck? Enough power and torque to go fast, but what is the driving experience like? Is it reliable? Is it fun? I am not trying to put down your choice, it is after all fast and practical. I am just curious about it.

I owned an S2000 for 8 years and it's a great car. But my HHR SS, with GM Performance Stage 1 kit (warranty not affected), makes about 300 hp and 320 ft lbs of torque, for only about 300 lbs more weight. With a Turbo Tech rear sway bar and performance motor mount, it would eat an S2000's lunch on the Nurburgring or on any country road you'd care to try. Yes, it doesn't handle quite as well--though it's surprisingly close--but with almost twice the torque and 60 more horsepower the Honda wouldn't have a chance. I see .95 g's constantly on the G meter. And that's with Michelin Performance all season tires. Once I fit Michelin Pilot Sports, look out. I once saw 150 indicated on my Honda, but a stock HHR does that. With the Stage 1 kit, I'm told my HHR will do 160. Bring on all the Jap crap and German overengineered, overweight stuff. For $23,000 new, out the door, the HHR rules. I'm sure that my car could duplicate the Cobalt SS time of 8:22 with no problem at all. Probably even go faster. And Chevy doesn't bring cheater cars to the Nurburgring. All are thoroughly checked by independent authorities. That's just sour grapes.....

Was this some kind of record for its class or something?

Check out this video..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOtAouKf_A0

In the comments the poster says..
"The record lap time was 8:43.52 minutes for its class, besting the previous record of 8:54.38 held by the Opel Zafira OPC."

Frank I think the morons are trying to limit their idea of perfromance to straight line drag racing from the lights..... I could imagine this POS being quick as its probably an automatic. I can also imagine what would have happened if I pulled up next to one of these in my old S2000.... I\'d have seen it and thought POS people carrier and ignored it..... then when it floored it away from the lights I\'d have been too surprised/late to give it a proper race.... hence driver of POS HHR SS thinks he just beat an S2000.

You morons trying to compare this mini van to a Honda S2000 based on crap RING time are lame. The S2K is by far the superior performance car in every conceivable way.

The 8:39 time for the S2K was with an AP1 on a shitty day and bad driver for one. The 8:43 time for the HHR wasn\'t a stock car. GM pulls this crap all the time. Same deal with the Cobalt\'s supposed 8:22

The MS3\'s 8:39 was achieved by a guy whom had no experience on the RING are with the car plus he was driving thru traffic. So don\'t go thinking your mini van (HHR) is almost as quick as the MS3 either.

700 is a bit much for that particular car. and you should be careful of hennessey because of all there alligatios with stealing and selling other parts. im not sayin dont get yourself a 700bhp Z, just be careful.

Take that 370Z to HENNESEY TUNING and you will have a 700HP 370Z!!!!!

User avatar

User avatar

Yonash, you will remember me from the ChevyHHR.net forum. I have the GM Stage 1 kit installed in my HHR SS and with the Stage kit, the HHR SS is a totally different beast. The S2000 may just shake at being beside the HHR SS Stage 1. The difference from stock to the kit is like night and day. Sure the kit only adds 30 hp(260-290) but that makes a huge difference in my bread wagon. LOL

User avatar

Yonash  17y ago

it may not be a sports car, but it surely is faster than almost anyone (that doesn't own one) gives it credit for being. and yeah, the S2000 beat the lap time for the 'Ring by 4 seconds. now think about this...when the time for the HHR SS was set, it was driven by a GM Engineer (not a professional race driver, though he did amateur racing), and it was in the development stage, fine-tuning the suspension settings. Engineer driven developmental car, 4 seconds behind an S2000. i'm sure equal skilled drivers would come down to a hiccup as to who wins.

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

Why is everyone talking about beating this whatever it is. Its the furthest thing from a sportscar.

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

for the same price and same enignie you can get a Cobalt SS..and that would annihilate this!

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

well guess what, i beat a Ultimater Aero TT with my Ford Model T, what do you think about that? lol

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

That right there is funny, but probably true.

User avatar

Billy  17y ago

I have beat every S2000 that has tried. Oh wait, I have also beat every Accord and Civic that has tried. I actually had some little punk with his Fart-can mufflered civic threaten me because I smoked him so bad. TO quote him "I should have beat you so you obviously are trying to play me" Not wuite sure what that meant, but with all the ear pain from the horrible sounding exhaust on his car he was probably brain damaged. LOL What these little punks with there tricked out imports financed by daddys credit card dont know will be taught to them through the glow of the little round tail-lights.

User avatar

Werty  17y ago

Ummm why are you comparing this to an S2000??? i think the new Accord Coupe will be enuff to handle this.

User avatar

Anonymous  17y ago

in a straight line and around a track the S2000 wiolu Demolish this thing. look at the stats so far in a straightline and around a track. and the NSX is NOT in the class of the Vette!! and i may be a kid, but atleast im not some DumbShite who thinks this CrapWagon can beat an S2000!

User avatar

camaro98z28  17y ago

LOL The S2000 would eat this? LMAO. Now you're going to compare an Acura NSX to a HHR SS? LMAO Kid Please. the NSX is in the same class as a Vette and that doesn't favor the NSX very well. LMAO Next
